2 INTERNAL WATERPROOFING INDUSTRY BEST PRACTICE This course brochure will inform and guide you through the Internal Waterproofing - Industry Best Practice course. Please read the following information carefully to understand all the course requirements and assessments to ensure that it is suitable for your needs. ABOUT US Master Builders Association of NSW is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 6163) offering nationally recognised qualifications and courses across New South Wales which meet endorsed industry standards. Pathways to qualifications include full training and assessment, assessment towards Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and gap training. COURSE OVERVIEW The Internal Waterproofing Industry Best Practice short course is designed to help participants learn industry best practice of internal waterproofing, including preparation of surfaces for internal wet areas in accordance with Australian Standard AS Waterproofing of domestic wet areas. NATIONALLY RECOGNISED TRAINING On successful completion of the Internal Waterproofing Industry Best Practice short course, Master Builders will issue a Statement of Attainment for the following Nationally Recognised units: CPCCOHS2001A Apply OHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry CPCCWP2001A Handle waterproofing materials CPCCWP2004A Prepare surfaces for waterproofing application These units of competency can provide credits towards a nationally recognised qualification in CPC31411 Certificate III in Construction Waterproofing, which is offered by Master Builders. LOCATION AND DURATION This course is delivered over two (2) days at various Master Builders offices, refer to our website for locations where this course is currently available. 3 ENTRY REQUIREMENTS As this training may be subsidised by NSW Government, the following eligibility criteria applies: You live or work in NSW You are an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident or a humanitarian visa holder, or a New Zealand citizen You are no longer attending school Master Builders also applies the following entry requirements: You have a valid White Card (general construction induction card) In addition to the above, you must meet the following criteria: a. You have at least one year of building industry experience with awareness of waterproofing principles, practices and products, AND; b. You have no more than three months experience in a waterproofing job role, AND: c. You achieve a minimum of 80% correct answers in the Technical Industry Questions within the application process, AND d. You are able to provide contact details of one referee who is a licenced or qualified Waterproofer or Builder REQUIRED PARTICIPANT RESOURCES COURSE MATERIALS You will not be required to bring any materials or purchase specific books to complete this course. A pen and notepad for individual note taking is recommended. Master Builders will provide all course materials and resources on the day of training. CLOTHING REQUIREMENTS Whilst undertaking this course, you will be required to wear closed footwear and appropriate clothing suitable for a building site environment such as high visibility shirts or vests (no thongs, singlets, etc). COURSE DELIVERY AND ASSESSMENT The units of competency within this course cover the following topics: Identify hazardous materials and other hazards on work sites Manually handle waterproofing materials Prepare for mechanical handling of materials Handle and remove waste materials and clean-up work area Prepare and repair substrate Version number: 2.0 Version date: 27 th January, 2018 Page 3 of 5

4 This course is delivered and assessed face-to-face in a classroom. Assessments will include the following: Written assessments designed to obtain evidence of the knowledge required to perform waterproofing activities at a competent level. This will include a knowledge questionnaire where you will complete short answer questions. Practical assessments designed to be conducted one-on-one or in a small group. Where practical assessments are conducted in a small group, the assessor will ensure that all aspects of assessment are clearly assessed for each participant in the group (this may involve tasks being completed more than once to ensure that each participant is competent). Assessment on observable behaviour including oral questions designed to assess technical criteria relevant to techniques required for the units of competency delivered in the course. You will be provided with a briefing of what is required to successfully complete these assessments; to ensure that you are completely aware of the assessment requirements as well as the required skills, knowledge and behaviour that the assessor will be looking for whilst conducting assessments. You will be offered multiple opportunities to demonstrate knowledge and skills throughout the course. At the completion of all the assessment tasks, you will be provided feedback on your abilities and responses. Upon completion of the course, your assessor will provide you with a result before progression to the certification stage, and prescribe one of the following outcomes: If you are assessed as competent in all units of competency, you will progress to the certification stage. If you are assessed as not yet competent in any units of competency, a Statement of Attainment will not be issued and you will be invited to re-enrol into this course again at any time. TRAINING QUALITY AND CERTIFICATION Master Builders is responsible under the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act 2011 for the quality and delivery of training and assessment and will be the organisation issuing an AQF certificate or statement of attainment to participants. FEES This program may be subsidised by the NSW Government Smart and Skilled initiative. Where subsidies are available and applied to the training and you meet the above mentioned eligibility criteria, there is no student fee payable. Where there are no subsidies available for the delivery of this training, fees are as follows: Master Builders Members $500 Non-Members $550 Payment of fees is required upon enrolment.
