1 2016 Ontario EMR User Conference Thursday May 12, 2016 Pre-Conference Training morning session 7:30 8:00 a.m. Pre-Conference Training Registration - morning session Make the most of your travel time and join us for extra training before the user conference officially opens. We are offering three courses this year Custom Forms, Encounter Assistants and Chronic Disease Management for $200 off the regular fee on Thursday, May 12 th at the Blue Mountain Resort in Blue Mountain Ontario. Space is limited, and registration will be on a first-come first-served basis. The courses will be offered twice, from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Please book your spot through the online registration tool. 8:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. Designing Custom Forms Who should attend? Clinical office staff and health professionals who will be developing customized automated forms for the clinic. In this session you will learn how to recreate paper-based forms in the system that will automatically populate patient records with data from PS Suite EMR. You will learn how to create and design custom forms from scratch, and how to modify existing forms for clinic customization. Improving Care Consistency through Encounter Assistants Who should attend? Health professionals who would like to create customized automated notes and actions based on workflows for specific types of patient encounters. In this session you will learn how to unleash the true power of PS Suite EMR by creating completely automated encounter workflows. Encounter Assistants allow you to enter pre-written progress notes, prescribe, start a requisition form, send a message, print a handout and more, all with the click of a button! Chronic Disease Management Who should attend? Both health professionals and clinical office staff who would like to effectively manage patients with chronic diseases. Healthcare providers are uniquely positioned to not only deal with their patients current health problems, but to detect potential issues early and practice prevention. This session is designed to provide you with a further look at how to effectively use the various PS Suite EMR tools designed to aid in chronic disease management. You will learn how to track, manage, and analyze data for patients with specific diseases and conditions, using: methods for entering patient data into records optimally to ensure that appropriate prescription interaction warnings are given for patients with sensitive diseases and conditions techniques for producing meaningful reports for assessing disease and condition trends utilities available in PS Suite EMR to enhance disease/condition management, patient compliance and patient education. A strong emphasis will be placed on the theory that good data in = good data out! and on best practices for ensuring that quality data is entered.

Tracking these changes and staying on top of what s been done and what needs to be done is a labourious process. Fortunately for those of us using PS Suite EMR, there are features to help track these changes quickly, easily and constantly. Join Laurie Williams as she explores how Brock University, Student Health Services has improved the internal communication and efficiency of their referral process by incorporating the automated features in Pending Tests and Consults and by customizing the Dashboard to maintain an up-to-date to do list. This session is suited for audiences in an administrative role and will focus on the How To of the software.

3 Administration track Billing Efficiencies for Chronic Disease Caring for chronic disease patients presents many opportunities to claim billing management fees offered by the Ministry of Health. Join us as we highlight the functionality of your PS Suite EMR in maximizing these billing opportunities. We will work through the scenarios of billing for diabetes and INR management and provide you with tools to assist you in these billing workflows. This session is suited for audiences responsible for billling processes and will focus on the How To of the software. Perspectives on Clinical Office Workflow PS Suite EMR allows physicians and clinical office staff to find many efficiencies in their processes. Join our special guest who will describe the unique workflows that have been implemented to create a more efficient medical practice. focus on the Solutions of the software. More than Electronic paper: Empowering your Custom Forms This session is for those of you who have already taken our Custom Form training course and want to see how to unleash the power of the Custom Forms in PS Suite EMR. Join us to see how custom forms can extend your EMR to better meet your clinic s needs. Learn some simple tricks of the trade that will speed you through the creation of powerful and effective content for your clinic. See how to convert a lifeless PDF document into an interactive form, add buttons to your lab requisitions, make sections appear and disappear inside a custom form so that your notes stay clean and uncluttered. See how custom forms allow you to collect and create quality measurements for practice improvement and patient outcomes. This session is suited for audiences with a clinical support role in a GP or Specialists capacity and will focus on the Solutions of the software. Unlocking the Power of the PS Suite EMR Dashboard Who should attend? PS Suite EMR users that want to track daily tasks in one easy-to-view location. In this session you will learn to effectively manage messages (or tasks), referrals, unfinished notes and more using the PS Suite EMR dashboard. You will learn how to customize the dashboard to meet the needs of your role and workflows and learn best practices to ensure work can be easily tracked and managed in the dashboard. This session will also cover how to ensure that no work gets missed when certain staff members are away or on extended leave, using the coverage tool. Changing and Managing Appointment Schedules Who should attend? Administrative staff responsible for managing the appointment schedule. In this session you will learn the essentials for creating and editing provider schedules. You will discover how to quickly block time off using recurring text and colour and pre-set appointment templates, how to block certain time slots for specified appointment types, how to construct separate appointment schedules for supporting staff and resources, and how to link schedules. You will also learn how to set appointment rules and types so that only a certain number of appointment types can be booked in one day (e.g. restricting the number of physicals). Using Stamps to Improve Reminders Who should attend? Physicians and health professionals who would like to quickly view pertinent information about a specific type of patient right in the patient profile. Easy tracking of patient data and care is one of the major benefits of PS Suite EMR. In this session you will learn how to display crucial test results and test status right in the patient profile by using the combination of reminders with associated stamps.

This session is suited for audiences in a technical role and will focus on the Solutions of your infrastructure. Case Study: Using PS Suite EMR to streamline clinical decision-support in team-based management of diabetic patients Dr. Adam Stewart returns to illustrate how he and Central Hastings FHT have taken his powerful and efficient clinical forms to the next level by using PS Suite EMR custom form toolbars and improved Encounter Assistants. Using tablets in the waiting room and online questionnaires, he will demonstrate efficient workflows for patient registration, consent, and history-taking. He will discuss tactics for goals common to all family physicians, including increasing preventive care screening rates, vaccine uptake, and patient satisfaction. He will also provide tips on handling common challenges such as outside use penalties, visit agenda setting, language barriers, and truant patients. focus on the Solutions of the software. Using Searches to Manage Population Reporting Who should attend? Clinical office staff and health professionals who create and/or assess detailed reports on specific patient populations, and/or those who would like to create reminders in patient records. Reporting on patient data and tracking patient care are important parts of operating a successful clinic. Administration track Client Experience Support Focus Group Join us for this interactive session where you will discover the exciting new Customer First initiatives implemented by our Client Experience (support) team. Attendees will also take part in a customer focus group, meant to gain an understanding of critical areas of opportunity that would drive customer satisfaction and improve the service provided by our customer support team. This session is suited for audiences in an administrative role and is designed to support a Focus Group discussion. The CFFM ehealth Centre of Excellence (ece), established in 2014, was founded on a vision of creating a collaborative space to share knowledge, develop best practices and to enable technology to support improved clinical care. The ece team provides support to clinicians wishing to integrate electronic tools into their practice. 10 PS Suite EMR Integration with BORN Ontario BORN is Ontario s pregnancy, birth and childhood registry and network. Its main objective is to make a positive and lasting contribution to the health of mothers, newborns, children and the citizens of Ontario through collecting, interpreting, sharing and rigorously protecting critical data about each birth in the province. PS Suite EMR is currently engaged in a pilot project for integration with BORN that is aimed at facilitating streamlined collection and secure upload of development-tracking data of children under 6 years of age, captured through electronic copies of Rourke Baby Record (RBR), and Nipissing District Developmental Screen (NDDS) forms. Join us in this session to learn more about the project and the new tools implemented in PS Suite EMR to assist in enhancing users experience using these forms and facilitate participating in this exciting initiative. focus on the Solutions of the software.
