2 THE SAFETY & COMPETENCE CONFERENCE SKILLED FOR SAFETY Wednesday, 7 November 2018 InterContinental Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia The OPITO Global Awards 2018 recognise and honour individuals and companies from the energy industry that best demonstrate a commitment to building a safe and competent workforce through OPITO s best-in-class safety and training standards. In line with this year s theme at OPITO Global The Safety & Competence Conference, Skilled for Safety, nominations are being welcomed across four categories: Individual - Leadership Award Individual Emerging Leader Company Skilled for Safety Champion Company - Digital Champion Winners will be announced at the conference on Wednesday, 7 th November, which is being held at the InterContinental Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is the only international event which focuses entirely on safety and competency in the oil and gas industry. Entries close Friday, 7 th September An independent judging panel of industry leaders will score each entry according to the agreed criteria.

3 Categories Individual Awards Leadership Award In recognition of an individual who can best demonstrate their excellence in leadership involving people and programmes and who has made a significant difference to the development of a safe and competent oil and gas industry workforce. You must meet at least five of the following key criteria which must include Range of OPITO standards used as Excellence as a role model Examples of how the individual has inspired others to work collaboratively and creatively Examples where initiative has been demonstrated Examples of how the individual has promoted a work environment that is respectful and inclusive Examples of how the individual has supported the development of an OPITO standards environment Emerging Leader In recognition of an individual in the early stages of their career who can best demonstrate initiative, motivation and future potential in relation to the development of a safe and competent oil and gas industry workforce. You must meet the following key criteria which must include Range of OPITO standards used as Demonstrate leadership potential Show a commitment to personal/professional development Examples of unique and outstanding contributions to the OPITO standards environment Categories Company Awards Skilled for Safety Champion In recognition of an organisation that can best demonstrate its commitment to ensuring workforce safety by the development of appropriate skills. You must meet at least four of the following key criteria which must include Range of OPITO standards used as Examples of proactive commitment to health and safety in the workplace Examples of how the organisation empowers and inspires the workforce through learning Examples where OPITO standards have shown an improvement in safety and competence Examples of how OPITO standards will future proof skills and safe working environment through training, competence and qualification initiatives

4 Digital Champion In recognition of an organisation that can best demonstrate its commitment to the development of the OPITO standards environment through the use of emerging technology and practices. You must meet at least six of the following key criteria which must include Range of OPITO standards used as Examples of technology led improvements in the use/delivery of training and assessment Examples of how technology is enabling the next generation of learning Examples of creativity and innovation in the future delivery of training to OPITO standards to accommodate the changing industry operating environment Examples of digital culture in the organisation Displays innovative use of technology Demonstrates innovative use of data to inform and enable improvement Entry Guidelines Who can enter? The award categories are open to any organisation engaged in the use or delivery of OPITO standards. How to enter? Nominate a third party or make a self-nomination. The process is simple and it is free to enter. 1. Read the guidelines and rules of entry 2. Complete the nomination and submit online at: 3. The nomination must include specific reference to the key criteria and be no more than 1,000 words long 4. Any part of an entry summary or pictures may be published in the OPITO newsletter and/or on the OPITO website 5. Include any relevant material that you feel will support your nomination. This should also be submitted electronically 6. Anyone shortlisted under the company award categories will be required to prepare and submit a short video for use at the ceremony shortlisted individuals are not required to do this. All video entries must adhere to the guidelines provided below in order to be shown 7. All entries will be treated in strictest confidence Deadlines Entries must arrive no later than Friday, 7 September Entries received after this time will not be entered for the awards. Finalists will be notified by Friday, 21 September 2018 and videos must be submitted by Friday, 12 October 2018.

5 Judging Process The judging panel consists of independent experts and OPITO representatives. The panel will select a shortlist of three companies per category. All nominees will be notified by 21 September 2018 as to whether or not they have been shortlisted. The shortlisted finalists will then prepare and submit their videos to the panel by 12 October Our judging panel will select the winners who will be announced at OPITO Global The Safety and Competence Conference on Wednesday, 7 November The judges decision is final and they will enter into no discussion or correspondence relating to any of their decisions. The Rules 1. The OPITO Global Awards are open to all companies engaged in the use or delivery of OPITO standards 2. Any third-party nominations must be made with the full knowledge and co-operation of the nominated company or individual 3. The organisers reserve the right to retain entries for subsequent publication in relation to the awards. Information which companies do not wish publicised should be clearly marked 4. Judges reserve the right to request additional material to support claims made in any nomination 5. If a member of the judging panel s company has been nominated for an award, the member of the judging panel cannot judge this category 6. Finalists and winners may be expected to take part in media interviews Video Production for Shortlist Finalists Content Guidelines The video should be presented by a senior staff member i.e. Managing Director or CEO and last no longer than two minutes from introduction to conclusion. Other staff members can also be included in the video in cameo roles. The video must in some way reference the minimum amount of key award criteria detailed above. In addition, the video should explain the key business drivers for using the OPITO standards, the value derived from doing so and why this is important to the company, its business and its people. Technical Guidelines When recording, keep the camera as static as possible Record in well-lit conditions Record away from the wind if outdoors The subject should face the main light source. Keep the main light source behind the camera (otherwise the camera will expose from the brightest area and silhouette the subject) Do not use copyrighted music on the video submission Please use adequate recording equipment when filming i.e. not a mobile phone Please supply the file type to.wmv or.mov or on a DVD.
