2 The Programme Programme Pathways We have two Pathways available to you at PBA. We do this as we recognise that there may be some of you who know exactly which discipline you want to progress your career in, and others who may want to try out a few and see what you like! As a multidisciplinary Practice, we are well positioned to offer both of these opportunities. 1. Core Discipline Pathway As a member of the Core Discipline Pathway, your two years will consist of working on a variety of projects within your chosen discipline, giving you exposure and experience to further your development within your selected career path. 2. Rotational Pathway As a member of the Rotational Pathway, you will get the opportunity to try three of our disciplines. Your two years will therefore consist of three rotations: 1st Placement ~12 months This placement will provide you with a thorough grounding within your core discipline. 2nd and 3rd Placements ~6 months each The disciplines you will experience in your 2nd and 3rd placement will build further knowledge of working in a multidisciplinary practice. Additionally, both pathways of the Programme may include a secondment should either the requirement or opportunity present itself. Previous s have found this beneficial in achieving their professional development objectives. To find out about the Rotational Pathway and secondments, see the Learning section. Learning Institution Membership Your learning programme centres around the professional institution that you choose to align with. This will drive the direction of both your technical learning and professional development. Personal Coaching Technical & CPD Institution Training Agreement STEM Activities An essential element of the Programme is commencing your pathway to professional accreditation and signing up to a Training Agreement. This is the formal route to accreditation and will be a key part of your on going development. We have a number of professional institutions that we recognise and support across the Practice. The main ones are as follows: Disipline Civil Engineering Buildings Transport Environment Planning Institution ICE IStructE, ICE, CIBSE TPP, CIHT CIWEM, IEMA, LI, IES RTPI, RICS During the first few months of the Programme you will be offered a Training Agreement aligned to your chosen professional institution. Following this, you will be allocated a mentor who will support you and help you to achieve your professional aspirations. Technical Your daily work will provide a large part of your learning and development. Your mentor will help support you with the format required for your professional institution. Capturing learning is not just considered best practice, it is fundamental to maintaining professional accreditation. The Programme The Programme

3 Continuous (CPD) and the Forum Throughout your time on the programme there will be plenty of opportunities to further your knowledge via technical forums, lunchtime seminars and formal training. In addition, the Forum has been created to give you a chance to have a say in how the Programme is run and provide feedback to the Practice from our cohort of s. The Forum meet quarterly to generate ideas on the continuous development of the Programme and identify further topics that will be of use. You will be invited to apply to become a member of the Forum at the Induction Event. Elections are held each year to vote s to hold Forum positions. STEM Activities Personal Coaching Fundamental to the Peter Brett Foundation is the belief that there should be a strong link between education and industry. Our engagement in STEM activities across the country is the embodiment of this belief.
