1 Position Profile Executive Director, Social Venture Partners Minnesota Social Venture Partners: Social Venture Partners Minnesota (SVP MN) is one of 39 SVP affiliates in a global network of over 3,500 partners aligning purpose and passion to make a difference in the communities in which we live. We are an engaged philanthropy organization that leverages the money and talents of its members to promote philanthropy and improve the lives of at risk teens in the Twin Cities. Our members are successful entrepreneurs, corporate executives, and professionals skilled at growing organizations with a heart for making a better world. We are business entrepreneurs working alongside social entrepreneurs to solve social problems. We follow the venture capital model of patient, long-term investment combined with hands-on assistance (consulting) to help transform the social entrepreneur s vision into reality. We invest our financial, social and intellectual capital in the nonprofit innovators we support and partner with. Social Venture Partners members gain satisfaction from giving their time, talent and treasure forming rewarding personal relationships with each other, the nonprofit staff we support and the at risk teens whom our investees serve. SVP MN partners with innovative, early stage 501(c)(3) organizations that improve the lives of at risk teens. We follow a venture philanthropy model that provides financial, management and technical assistance for the organizations we support. We have found the combination of strategically timed financial investment and the contributions of our members skills for organizational capacity building produces the best long-term results for our Investees. We provide multi-year funding in the form of grants up to $25,000 per year to be used as general operating support. The funds are invested to help implement an Organizational Capacity Building Plan that we co-develop with each Investee. Social Venture Partners is committed to performance based multi-year funding of its Investees (with a maximum of three years) because we believe the continuity creates the greatest impact to improve the Investee s organizational effectiveness to achieve their missions. SVP MN s efforts to improve the lives of at risk teens are centered around three core strategies: Connect and engage individuals, helping them maximize the impact of their philanthropic giving. We believe we can accomplish much more together than we can individually. Strengthen and expand social ventures helping them take their vital work for at risk teens to the next level. Facilitate and invest in collaborative solutions aligning those with a common interest or cause to work together to go farther faster. SVP MN is an organization of modest size, but is often described as punching above its weight in terms of its disproportional influence and impact on our community. While SVP MN is a vibrant and healthy organization enjoying recent impressive growth, we believe we have only scratched the surface of what we can become. The Board and the Partnership value fresh and innovative ideas as we strive to dramatically amplify the organization s impact on at risk teens.
