1 Class Title: LSA Status: on-exempt BRIE DESCRIPTIO: Under general supervision of the Municipal Court Administrator or Court Supervisors, assist with the coordination of the administrative activities of the municipal court. This position provides increased responsibility of duties such as maintaining all necessary databases, imaging and retention systems, as well as paperwork for the complaints handled by the City of Grand Prairie Municipal Courts. unctions as a lead worker thereby performing some of the same work as Municipal Court clerks such as collecting court costs, scheduling court dates, controlling court dockets, handling complaints, assisting customers and increased financial responsibility for cash handling and drawer balancing. Lead worker duties include training newly hired or promoted personnel, being lead on key projects of the court and assigning work or coverage as needed in the absence of a supervisor or as delegated. Incumbent(s) has demonstrated ability to assume increased reasonability by obtaining and maintaining a Level 1 Court Clerk Certification. ESSETIAL UCTIOS: The intent of this position description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbent(s) in this position. Additionally, assists in researching more complex issues and/or resolving issues involving angry/irate customers. Responds to requests for public records in accordance with established policies. Communicates procedures regarding warrant status cases and assists customers with case resolution. 2 S Court Activities/Dockets: Monitors and maintains control of court dockets to prevent overload, issues jury summons, monitors jurors, notifies defendants and attorneys of case statues and issues subpoenas and witness notifications. Prepares court dockets, maintains court dockets setting limits, review trial dockets with prosecutors, and reviews court dockets with court administrator. Reviews delinquent cases for capias warrant preparation, capias pro fine warrant Page 1

2 preparation or arrest warrant preparation. May serve as courtroom clerk. 3 S Database and ile Management: Maintains databases on citations received from Police Department, prepares case files, interprets judicial instruction and places case information into case file. Prepares arrest warrants, prints complaints, and signs and prepares files for Judge s signature. 4 S Policy/Procedure Administration: Assists with insuring policies and procedures are adhered to by staff. Assists the Court Services Director and Supervisors with development, implementation, and adherence to court policies, procedures, and changes in local and state laws and ordinances. 5 S Daily Work low/activities: May be expected to coordinates daily work activities which may include, but is not limited to, training new court clerks, organizing, prioritizing and assigning work; monitoring status of work in progress; inspecting completed work; consulting with supervisors to assist with solving complex problems and providing technical expertise to court clerks. Serves as a lead worker. 6 S Warrants/Bonds/otifications to Defendants: Checks in and lifts warrants on bonds as monies are received, and processes time served that has been granted by the Judge and schedules docket as needed. Prepares check requests for inance Department and mails copies of paperwork to interested parties. 7 S Special Projects: Assists Court Administrator and Supervisors with Court operations by assisting with special projects, running reports, providing administrative assistance, facilitating projects, monitoring workflow and identifying and resolving problems. JOB REQUIREMETS: ormal Education / Knowledge Experience Certification and Other Requirements Reading JOB REQUIREMETS High School Diploma or GED. At least 2 years of experience as a court clerk or duties that are very close in nature to court clerk. Cash handling, posting, balancing and reconciliation experience required. Bilingual ability in Spanish and English preferred. Valid Texas Class C Driver's License. Preferable to hold and maintain a Level 1 Court Clerk Certification within 12 months of hire date. Intermediate - Ability to read papers, periodicals, journals, manuals, dictionaries, thesauruses, and encyclopedias. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in high school up to college.
