2 Survey of Corporate Policy Covering the Reimbursement of Costs Relating Permanent Resident Applications This on line survey was conducted from January 25 February 25, The purpose of the survey was to provide insights into the policies of corporations in covering the costs associated with permanent residency applications for employees. A total of 29 organizations participated in the survey. Eighteen of the participating organizations indicated that they have a reimbursement policy to provide financial support. 5 1. Does your organization have a policy to provide financial support to employees applying for permanent residence in Canada? Of the 29 organizations participating in this survey, 18 report having a policy in place to provide financial support to employees applying for permanent residence in Canada? Of those that don t have a policy in place many report that the reimbursement may be provided on a case by case basis, and includes some of the following situations: We deal with this on a one off basis it is not a given that everyone would receive PR support that applies for permanent residence status it is subject to business approval. If it is covered, we would pay up to a cap and any amount above the cap is shared 50/50 between the company and the employee. Although no policy in place, we typically support the PR application for TFW that are hired full time. Not normally an issue and would probably be addressed on an as required basis. It depends on tenure, performance and level in the co. Depending on the level the person is coming into our organization the costs may covered 2. 6 3. Employee groups that are eligible to receive the support The majority of organizations (59%) extend the support to all levels of employees. In 41 per cent of the organizations the support is restricted to management and executives only. No organizations report providing the support for new graduate hires. 4. The majority of organizations, 90 percent, provide support for the costs of the employee and all dependant family members. 5. Average cost of application support per employee Organizations report costs ranging from between $2,500 to over $15,000 per employee, including dependants. The average cost reported is $6,500.
