English and Foundation Skills (EFS) provides the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) and the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) program for the Department of Education and Training, and the Humanitarian Settlement Services (HSS) for the Department of Social Services. The Youth Employment Advisor is responsible for the provision of high quality youth vocational and educational services working with caseload of participants in the Smart Skilled and Hired Youth Employment program to meet optional and mandatory outcome KPI s. Actively canvassing and engaging with employers to identify employment opportunities for participants and provide post-placement support, using a range of strategies to engage and retain young people throughout the program. Objectives provide high quality youth vocational and educational services Maintaining regular contact with participants using a range of strategies, to support engagement, monitor achievement of tasks and outcomes, and encourage participation in the program Continually review and update barriers and goals to ensure individual participant plans are relevant provide individual guidance and group workshops on job seeking skills, core skills and cultural understanding of working in Australia Promote Navitas English Smart, Skilled and Hired Youth Employment Program services to employers, companies and relevant industry bodies Link participants to local employment opportunities through canvassing employers, job search assistance and post placement support Maintaining participant case notes and documentation, supportive evidence for outcomes and all relevant administrative tasks are completed within the contractual timeframes Essential requirements Qualifications in a relevant field and / or relevant experience in delivering employment services to young people Demonstrated understanding of the complex barriers some young people experience in entering the workforce Skilled in building rapport with young people Demonstrated experience in facilitating individual and group sessions Demonstrated experience in identifying and acting on employment opportunities, particularly in the Western Sydney region Relevant experience / knowledge in using technology that are relevant and engaging to youth, as well as , Microsoft Word, internet and databases Page 1

3 Position Description Title: Youth Employment Advisor Division: Reports to: Careers and Industry Program Manager, Employment Pathways 1. Overview and Objectives of the Position: The Youth Employment Advisor is responsible for providing advice and assistance to Smart, Skilled and Hired Youth Employment participants, seeking employment opportunities and providing post-placement support. Key Result Areas: Client/Relationship Management Ensures consistent delivery of services to participants and external stakeholders by: maintaining regular contact with participants using a range of strategies, to support engagement, monitor achievement of tasks and outcomes, and encourage participation in the program continually reviewing and updating barriers and goals to ensure individual participant plans are relevant advising program participants effectively on options and strategies towards gaining employment ensuring participants access to appropriate skill development activities to achieve employment pathway goals Page 3

4 providing individual guidance and group workshops on job-seeking skills, core skills and cultural understanding of working in Australia referring participants to delivery partners and other service providers as required linking participants to local employment opportunities through canvassing employers, job search assistance and post placement support be the primary contact for a caseload of clients during the engage and retain phase Youth Employment Advisor Services Ensures Youth Employment Program meets the needs of participants by: working collaboratively with the Youth Employment Coordinator and other relevant stakeholders to develop tailored individual employment pathway plans promoting Navitas English Smart, Skilled and Hired Youth Employment Program services to employers, companies and relevant industry bodies managing effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and other service providers. working closely with Program Manager, Employment Pathways and Youth Employment Advisor to continuously improve services to meet clients needs Reporting and Administration maintaining Youth Employment Program System (YEPS), supportive evidence for outcomes and all relevant administrative tasks are completed within the contractual timeframes maintaining referral/stakeholder database ensuring legislative and contract privacy regulations are understood and implemented ensuring client records and personal information are stored securely according to the Navitas English privacy policy conducting participant and employer surveys to ensure contractual compliance and continuous improvement Professional Development maintaining up-to-date professional knowledge and skills in the area of local Youth Employment, local and Commonwealth government services, employment pathways and the Vocational education and Training (VET) sector attending and contributing to staff meetings to ensure clients barriers, needs and interests are being addressed liaising with and actively promoting Navitas English programs, services and expertise in professional forums, and to organisations and clients, as required Other Legislative compliance for the health and safety of staff and students at Navitas English.
