2 Job Description Job Title: Reporting to: Team: Salary: Hours: Box Office & Marketing Assistant Box Office Co-ordinator Marketing 18,500, based on a full-time role of 37.5 hours per week There are a number of full time equivalent (fte) and 0.5 fte roles available Holiday: Holiday may be limited during busy peak times Flexible Working: This role will typically involve a combination of weekday, weekend and evening working. Shift lengths will be variable and full time staff will typically work across 5 days

3 Summary of the Role This exciting new role at Tyneside Cinema offers an opportunity to be part of a team who play a key role in ensuring that Tyneside Cinema s customer experience is of an excellent quality, comparable to the best in our region and our sector. The Box Office & Marketing Assistants will be responsible for ensuring that customers to the box office receive a warm welcome and that their needs are exceeded, increasing loyalty, visit frequently and advocacy. We re looking for confident, friendly and approachable individuals who are highly motivated to excel in their work and are solution-focused. The Box Office & Marketing Assistants will have excellent product knowledge and be able to talk confidently and passionately about the full range of products and services the Cinema offers. The roles combine some marketing assistant responsibilities and we are looking for people either with existing marketing skills and experience or who are keen to learn, and who would be able to confidently handle social media enquiries and other marketing duties. The Box Office & Marketing Assistants sit within the marketing team, and as such this is a sales-focused role, responsible for generating income through a combination of sales across all Tyneside Cinema's activities and donations. Successful candidates will be great team players, with exceptional people skills and a commitment to audience development and to supporting the full range of needs of a diverse audience.

4 About Tyneside Cinema Tyneside Cinema occupies a beautiful, art-deco, Grade II listed building on a prime city centre site in the heart of Newcastle where it has stood for 80 years. Built by Dixon Scott, great uncle of film directors Sir Ridley and Tony Scott, it opened in 1937 as a Newsreel Theatre. The last decade has seen two significant capital projects that have sensitively restored and expanded the building; preserving its heritage, increasing screen capacity and improving the food and beverage offer. The Cinema has 4 auditoria seating 510 people, several meeting/workshop spaces and operates 3 on-site bar - cafes. It welcomes 500,000 visitors to the building each year, and achieves cinema audiences of 190,000, making it one of the largest and most successful independent cultural cinemas in the UK. The Cinema plays a vital role in the creative economy of the City, employing over 130 staff across the charity and trading company. 5 Roles & Responsibilities 1. Be a warm, welcoming and knowledgeable first point of contact at the box office, on the telephone, and on so that customers are inspired to engage with the Cinema, recommend it to friends and family and return time and time again. 2. Promote memberships and future programmes through excellent product knowledge, so that customers are encouraged to join, to renew and to attend follow-on events and screenings. 3. Keep up to date with the box office system and how to use it, as well as any offers or deals and how to process them. 4. Up-sell concession goods and memberships where-ever possible and be proactive in seeking donations, to contribute to income generation targets. 5. Respond to general, and operational social media enquiries out of usual office hours, be able to make quick website updates, alerting marketing staff to any potentially contentious posts or website issues. 6. Be an advocate for diversity, tailoring your approach to meet the needs of different audiences. Champion one or more target audiences (e.g. families, older people etc.) so that the Box Office team becomes more knowledgeable about the interests and needs of that particular audience, understanding how to best meet their needs and retain them as a customer. 7. Engage in marketing activity, conducting customer research, maintaining print and poster displays in front of house areas and taking on other marketing projects and tasks as required. 8. Adopt an ethos of continuous improvement, looking for ways to improve our practices to better meet the needs of our customers and to ensure that customer feedback is captured and delivered to appropriate members of staff for action. 9. Adhere to all Box Office administrative duties and procedures including cash handling, age restrictions, health and safety procedures, complimentary tickets, refunds, floats and petty cash and all other core duties of the role. 10. Work with the Customer Services team as required to act as scheduled fire marshal and be ready to assist in any evacuations of the building.
