1 PRE-SCHOOL LEARNING ALLIANCE 50 FEATHERSTONE STREET, LONDON, EC1Y 8RT Registered as an Educational Charity JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: BASED: DEPARTMENT: RESPONSIBLE TO: WEB DEVELOPER NATIONAL CENTRE IT AND SUPPORT SERVICES IT MANAGER JOB PURPOSE: To manage, maintain and develop the Charity s portfolio of websites and web applications. To review and make necessary recommendations to improve and update websites and web applications. To manage and develop web related databases. Overview of main duties: 1. To work with colleagues across the Charity to ensure that the charity s website is an accessible and effective marketing and communication tool that meets the needs of our service users. 2. To liaise with colleagues and, as directed by the IT Manager, to improve technical and usability aspect of the websites and intranet, making necessary recommendations. 3. To work with the IT Manager to produce and implement a development project plan to o o Migrate services from legacy systems onto the Drupal platform. Identify and develop new functionality that would improve the services provided by the charity. 4. To support and manage online publications shop, mailing house and credit card processor to ensure delivery of an efficient, professional and cost effective e-commerce sales channel for the charity s publications. 5. Support the Insurance and Membership team by maintaining the online registration and renewal functions for members. 6. To work with Marketing and Membership teams to review and make recommendations to improve data capture and quality of key contacts. 7. To develop and maintain web related databases and to provide regular reports. 8. To work with IT colleagues to support the development and hosting of all web, intranet and other IT systems.

2 9. To liaise with 3 rd party developers, hosting and support providers to maintain relevant web services. 10. In liaison with the IT Manager, to ensure the charity is in compliance with all relevant legislation and banking rules. E.g. PCI-DSS, Data Protection Act, Distance Selling Regulations, Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations. 11. To provide technical support and guidance to sub-committees and childcare services on their internet presence. 12. To maintain documentation and backups to a standard sufficient for disaster recovery purposes and that the IT Manager is aware of procedures for implementation in absence of the post holder. This job description is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will also be required to carry out any other duties which may reasonably be required of you in accordance with the needs of the Pre-school Learning Alliance. You are also required to be flexible and adaptable with respect to your role. Person Specification 1. Experience of the following internet languages, protocols and standards: Theming HTML CSS/SCSS/SASS JavaScript/JQuery DOM Responsive Design PHP SQL XML SVG HTTP RSS/Atom DNS WAI 2. Experience using and managing the following web frameworks and software: Drupal 7 Git 3. Experience using and maintain the following server software: Linux Apache MySQL

3 PHP 4. Experience of maintaining and continuous improvement of websites. 5. Experience of making developments to an existing website. 6. Experience of providing web support in an IT capacity. 7. Familiar with database report software. 8. An effective team player. 9. Excellent problem solving skills. 10. Ability to respond to frequent pressure to meet deadlines and frequent demands from multiple stakeholders. 11. Ability to work with minimum supervision. 12. Ability to ensure work speed and accuracy are sustained at all times. 13. Excellent organisational, communication and editorial skills. 14. Able to demonstrate an understanding of the application of the following Alliance Core Management Competencies: communication, customer awareness and problem solving (see attached document). Desirable Criteria 1. Proven experience of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with managers and employees, along with membership groups. 2. Experience with e-commerce. 3.
