5 Prompt: LEQ Response Historians have argued that Progressive reform lost momentum in the 1920s. Evaluate this statement with respect to TWO of the following: Regulation of business Labor Immigrants Things you may want to consider: Time period Goals of progressives Successes and failures Important people (Think about Presidents and their policies)

6 LEQ Response With the conclusion of World War I, America entered a new era in which the progressive reforms of the 1900s were ended. Beginning with the changing of the presidency in 1920 from Progressive President Woodrow Wilson to conservative Republican Warren G. Harding, America entered a time of economic boom following the war, paying little attention to either social problems or the regulation of business. While the Progressive Movement was characterized by men and women who helped immigrants assimilate and favored trust-busting, the 1920s was characterized by people who ended the progressive reforms and sought to return to normalcy in an area of immigration restriction and little governmenrt regulation of business or industry.
