1 Leveraging Information for the Common Good RIMPA Event hosted by ACT Branch Describing and relating information assets of the Australian Government Katharine Stuart and John Machin, Department of Finance Katharine and John explain how the current iteration of the Australian Government Records Interoperability Framework, a component the whole of Australian Government Digital Records Transformation Program, will assist giving context to assets. Digital Continuity 2020 and Professionalism Linda Zakman, National Archives of Australia The Digital Continuity 2020 policy sets targets for professionalism to support continuing professional development of information management staff to achieve professional recognition, and Linda will present a workshop investigating the new and established skills required to meet this target. 2 8.45 9:15am Registration 9.15am Welcome RIMPA ACT Branch Half day Seminar, 2 November 2017 Program Theme: Leveraging Information for the Common Good am Presentation: Describing and relating information assets of the Australian Government: the Australian Government Records Interoperability Framework Presenter: Katharine Stuart AGRIF Project Manager, John Machin AGRIF Information Architect About the Topic: The Australian Government Records Interoperability Framework is a component of the Department of Finance s whole of Australian Government Digital Records Transformation Program. It leverages semantic ontologies to give reference to the context that surrounds and gives meaning to information assets, allowing them to be managed as records more effectively. The project team will explain the need to give context to assets and explain how the current iteration of the Framework will assist with this. Katharine Stuart Katharine works for the Australian Government Department of Finance working on a whole of government Digital Records Transformation Program. Katharine has previously worked as an Assistant Director at the National Archives of Australia where she contributed to the development of records management standards, policy and strategy. At the National Archives Katharine led the project team which delivered the Digital Continuity 2020 Policy. Prior to the National Archives, Katharine worked for the State Records Authority of New South Wales on the NSW digital strategy Future Proof. Katharine is a PhD candidate at the University of Canberra, undertaking research into digital government and the effects on records management. Katharine has previous degrees from the University of Canberra and Macquarie University including a Master of Knowledge Management (Information Studies) and Master of Museum Management. John Machin John works for the Australian Government Department of Finance as part of the whole of government Digital Records Transformation Program. His experience with information sciences is quite diverse having previously worked at the National Archives of Australia and the Australian Bureau of Statistics where he contributed to archival and statistical information standards and was part of a multi disciplinary research and development team working on innovative solutions to business problems particularly through the use of semantic ontologies and other linked data methods. John has qualifications in information management (Curtin), history(anu), political studies and philosophy (Otago).

Lynda has more than twenty odd years in the information management industry, within public and private, both small and large organizations she loves sharing what she s learnt. She's been seen on stage at this years inforum, TEDxCanberra, in the media and in the forest. 10: am Morning tea am Presentation: Data Integration Partnership for Australia The Government is investing $130.8 million in the Data Integration Partnership for Australia (DIPA) as part of the Public Sector Modernisation Fund to improve the Australian Public Service s advice to Government on complex policy issues. The DIPA will bring together data assets from multiple sources to build a robust, secure and scalable whole of government data integration and analysis capability. Through the DIPA, the Government is seeking to leverage the value of data to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of Government programs and services, and better use data driven evidence to deliver real outcomes for individuals, business and communities. Naomi Perdomo, Senior Adviser, Data and Digital Branch Naomi is a Senior Adviser in the Data and Digital Branch within the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. In her role leading the Data Projects section, she is responsible for strategic coordination and oversight of the Data Integration Partnership for Australia (DIPA) a $131 million project to improve the Australian Public Service s advice to Government on complex policy issues. She also manages Australia s participation in international data groups and activities, as well as liaison with foreign counterparts on data related issues. Prior to joining the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Naomi worked at the Department of Communications in a variety of strategic policy roles. [Naomi worked in a Melbourne law firm, predominately focussing on commercial and property law matters. Naomi holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Commerce from Monash University in Melbourne.] 11.35am 12.20pm Presentation: Digital Continuity 2020 and Professionalism The Digital Continuity 2020 policy set a broad target to improve professionalism standards so that agencies have appropriately skilled information management (IM) staff by 31 December In October 2017, an interim target is being released for Agencies to support continuing professional development of information management staff to achieve professional recognition. This workshop will investigate skills for the future information management

4 environment and how established information management skills related to classification, appraisal, legal and policy can be leveraged. Linda Zakman, Assistant Director, Commonwealth Information Management Linda Zakman works in the Collection Management branch of the National Archives of Australia in the Commonwealth Information Management section. She has particular interest in the roles of future data and information professionals. Linda has spent the last 9 years working in the area of government information management and capability development after 10 years in the university sector pm Close

5 Registration Terms & Conditions All registrations for RIM Professionals Australasia events are made subject to the terms and conditions of RIM Professionals Australasia as set out below: Payment Terms Online Registration: Payment is required upon registration. For invoices: Payment is required within 30 days of the registration being received. Invoices will be sent electronically upon registration being received. All invoices which remain outstanding after the 30 day payment term will be referred to a debt collection agency and all fees associated with collection of the debt will be added to the outstanding invoice total. Methods of Payment Payments are accepted in Australian dollars and include 10% GST. New Zealand based events are payable in New Zealand dollars and do not attract any GST Cheques should be made payable to RIM Professionals Australasia and sent to RIM Professionals Australasia, PO Box 95, Salisbury North, Australia Payments can also be made by EFT and credit card (Visa/Mastercard). Payment at the door is not accepted. Registration Fee The registration fee covers attendance at all sessions, refreshments, any event documentation on the day, enrolment fee and Statement of Attainment / Qualification Certificates. Please note that any registrations accepted after the RSVP date will attract a 15% surcharge. Attendees who fail to pre register for an event but show up on the day may be turned away, however in the event they are admitted, a 50% surcharge will apply. Cancellations Cancellations received in writing at least 10 days prior to the first day of the event will be refunded in full less an administration charge of 20% Notice of cancellation must be received in writing and submitted by ing wendy.morris@rimpa.com.au We recommend using a method of recorded delivery to ensure notice of cancellation is received. Should you need to cancel your registration less than 10 days before the first day of the event, the registration fee remains payable in its entirety although a substitution will be accepted. Failure to attend an event does not negate your commitment to pay for attendance. If there are extenuating circumstances, please contact wendy.morris@rimpa.com.au and the cancellation request will be assessed on its merit. Substitutions and Name Changes Substitutions are acceptable at any time. If you have registered as a member, but need to substitute with a non member, the difference will be invoiced. To inform us of a name change, please wendy.morris@rimpa.com.au We regret that we are not able to transfer places between conferences or events. Indemnity It may be necessary for reasons beyond the control of the organisers to alter the venue, content or the timing of the programme. We will endeavour to keep you abreast of such changes but any reasonable change to the event format will not constitute a reason to refund the event fee. Should the event be postponed, we will endeavour to reschedule the event. If, for reasons beyond the control of RIM Professionals Australasia, an event is cancelled, a full refund will be made. We are not liable to pay any incurred costs resulting from any postponement or cancellation. We employ reputable and reliable service providers to ensure such information is protected.
