Affiliate strategies; creating stickiness in the market, 2502 A Brian Sandager, information systems director, Lowell General In our continually evolving market, partnerships with affiliated physicians and our ability to create stickiness in these relationships is key to the growth and protection of a health system. IT can either be a strategic asset or a liability in this type of strategy. Risk contracts, referrals and real estate relationships are great tools, however the integration of patient records and the corresponding improvements in patient care can create a long-term alignment in the physician community. This strategy is not a replacement for interoperability or a population health strategy, but with the addition of leveraged service offerings can create the highest levels of alignment with independent practices.
