This is an exciting opportunity to join our senior management team and lead volunteering across Age UK Croydon services. Age UK Croydon is a growing organisation, with a dynamic staff team of around seventy five and over ninety volunteers. We run services from two core sites, and additionally provide services and activities at over 35 venues throughout Croydon. This is exciting time for our organisation, as we launch our new 5 year strategy. We have ambitious plans to expand our services, design new services and introduce more diverse ways of raising unrestricted revenue to support sustainable growth. This role is pivotal to these plans and will have two main focuses when approaching the Volunteering Strategy: To develop the programme and offer more opportunities for volunteering, whilst putting in place strong processes and procedures To develop a Community Fundraising strategy and to be a member of the Fundraising Committee (a sub-committee of the Board of Trustees) In addition, you will be responsible for developing and driving the Volunteering Strategy, ensuring it builds our capacity to: manage, reward and support its volunteers better generate unrestricted income develop and better-resource projects raise awareness of Age UK Croydon and its work engage Croydon residents of all ages support people into training and employment and improve their health and wellbeing If you are passionate about making a difference to the lives of the older people who use our services, and want to contribute to an organisation which is continuously striving to improve, then we would love to hear from you. 5 Job Description Volunteer Programme Manager, Age UK Croydon (AUKC) Job Title: Volunteer Programme Manager Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer Responsible for: Volunteer Administration Assistant (and possibly Lead Volunteers) Job location: Croydon Hours: 35 hours per week. Grade/Salary: 30,000 Contract Length: Permanent Department: Volunteering, Member of the Senior Management Team This is exciting time for our organisation, as we launch our new 5 year strategy. To develop and drive the Volunteering Strategy of Age UK Croydon, ensuring it builds the capacity of Age UK Croydon to: o manage, reward and support its volunteers better o generate unrestricted income o develop and better-resource projects o raise awareness of Age UK Croydon and its work o engage Croydon residents of all ages o support people into training and employment and improve their health and wellbeing To develop, implement and monitor policies and procedures in support of the Volunteering Strategy. To support volunteer/project managers to recruit, select, support and offer training to volunteers working across all Age UK Croydon s projects. To develop new volunteer-led projects, like Befriending. To lead on volunteer-led fundraising by establishing a Community Fundraising team. As a member of the Senior Management Team, to ensure volunteering is maintained as a high priority. Main duties & responsibilities To develop the programme and offer more opportunites for volunteering, whilst putting in place strong processes and procedures a. Planning and Promotion Page 5 of 9

6 To work with colleagues to forecast each year how many volunteers are needed and where To create a library of volunteer role descriptions To maintain accessible and up-to-date information about volunteering opportunities and on a day-to-day basis to respond to volunteering issues and queries. To implement effective volunteer recruitment procedures, organising promotional strategies to encourage development of new projects supported by volunteers. This will include writing newsletters, updating and developing web pages, making presentations to external agencies, staffing promotional stands and liaising with the media. b. Recruitment and Selection To create a recruitment plan for Age UK Croydon To work with other staff and volunteer managers on recruitment To design a recruitment process that encourages safe recruitment and includes data management To build relationships with local volunteer centres and other volunteering organisations To produce local material to recruit volunteers with skills and expertise to support the services of the organisation c. Induction To create a general Age UK Croydon induction and deliver this to new volunteers To work with volunteer managers to design role specific training To create a library of volunteer policies To risk-assess all roles To create standards for volunteer resources (clothing and equipment for example) d. Support, supervision and day-to-day management To train staff on volunteer management To create a regular communication plan To design supervision / one to one templates and ensure volunteer managers use these To create a volunteer consultative group e. Training To train volunteers or empower volunteer managers to deliver training To create a training programme for all volunteer roles To design and deliver volunteer management training for staff To train staff on managing volunteer data Page 6 of 9

Reward and Recognition To develop and implement recognition structures for volunteers, including certification, reflective learning opportunities and organising social events to recognise the input of all the volunteers To encourage staff to nominate volunteers for external awards To nominate projects / volunteers for local and national recognition awards g. Exit To create volunteer exit interviews and how to record feedback / trends h. Measuring Impact, Evaluation and Monitoring To keep accurate records of volunteer data To manage the budgets for volunteer-led projects and produce KPI and financial monitoring reports on a regular basis With help of the Finance team, to use Xero accounting software to track the income and expenditure of volunteering activities To evaluate volunteering activities in a number of ways, including case studies and feedback surveys To work with senior staff and officers to develop an impact framework for measuring the success and impact of volunteering activities To report on volunteering activities on a monthly basis to the Chief Executive Officer and quarterly to the Board of Trustees and Trading Committee 2. To develop a Community Fundraising strategy Develop a Community Fundraising Strategy, working closely with the Fundraising Committee and the Communications Officer Develop business plans for new ideas Lead on introducing new initiatives through the strategy To work closely with the Communications Officer to develop a Communications Strategy, which will explore how we can build a community of volunteers To identify new opportunities to develop existing volunteering activities, by building relationships, building on existing projects and fundraising To explore, design and implement corporate volunteering initiatives To encourage volunteers from partner organisations to participate in activities Page 7 of 9
