1 The Quality Environment (5S) Certification or Recertification Flow Take some months to prepare yourself properly and to carefully pre-plan for the audit. 1. PREPARATION Study and implement Practices. Carry out self-assessment. Introduce internal improvement actions. Carry out re-self-assessment. Fill in the application form thoroughly and send it with your full payment covering the certification fee to the MPC no less than fifteen days before the audit date. On the physical audit day your Co-ordinator must devote his/her entire day to the audit. The MPC sends the audit report one month after the audit date. 2. APPLICATION No less than two months before audit 3. AUDIT 4. REPORTING No more than one month after audit Fill in application form. Consult schedule of tours. Send application and payment to MPC. Advise your preferred audit month. Opening meeting. Document review. Company visit. Performance review. Closing meeting. Audit report sent to you. If you are certified with conditions, you need to show evidence that all non-conformities have been rectified. Valid for one year. 5. QUALIFICATIONS No more than two months after the report 6. CERTIFICATION Take corrective actions. Send all corrections simultaneously to MPC. Bear in mind that additional information might be required and any other outstanding issues must be resolved within these two months. If you have passed, your company receives the Quality Environment (5S) Certificate from MPC. 7. For example, all unnecessary items are removed from the workplace, only necessary items are conveniently located near users, machines and equipment are kept clean and shiny. 5S is an acronym for five Japanese words that are Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu and Shitsuke. The driving force for Quality Environment (5S) program comes from people. In this respect, Shitsuke is critical to its success. Shitsuke is to train people accordingly so that they will follow good habit. Achieving certification is a public declaration of commitment to quality environment, a better workplace and continual improvement to meet customer needs. Assessment normally takes 1 man-day. The assessment will be carried out in two stages: An appraisal of your plan of activities, documentations and working preparation for the on-site assessment; On-site assessment to verify the practices implemented. 1. Are workplaces safe for people to work in? 5. Are machines and equipments clean and maintained? 6. Are item easily to retrieve? 7. Are machines and tools conveniently located? 8. Are inventories stored for FIFO retrieval? 9. Are products free from dust? 10. Do people clean daily without prompting? 11. Are the uniforms worn by people clean and tidy? 12. Is a good image of the company reflected in the people? 2. Others To Be Examine The policy and objectives, small group activity, surrounding areas and buildings, and incentives scheme practiced.
