3 Overview of Toyota UK There are two manufacturing plants in the UK representing a total investment of 2.5 billion and approximately 3,000 members (including Agency) are employed. The vehicle manufacturing plant is located at Burnaston in Derbyshire, the engine manufacturing plant is located at Deeside in North Wales. Toyota in Europe 1

You will not only get to understand what lies at the heart of our successful business but also gain an invaluable insight into the practical side of your chosen career. Our 3 month structured internship program delivers exceptional training and a chance for you to work on real life challenges alongside industry experts. FOCUSED ON YOUR FUTURE Whether you are looking at engineering, business operations management (logistics) HR or finance, we will ensure that you learn about the different aspects of your chosen field and support you build a great platform for your future. Impress us and you could be invited back to join our full Graduate Scheme. WHAT WE LOOK FOR We look for highly capable, self-driven individuals with plenty of initiative and a mature approach. You will be in the penultimate or final year of your degree program with at least a 2:1 predicted degree result and have a strong, pre-university academic record. Additionally, for engineering positions you will need to be studying a relevant degree. For HR and Logistics, a business / related degree is preferred. Toyota s HR summer internship scheme has been an extremely demanding, worthwhile and above all, rewarding experience. This is a company I have been proud to work for. 3

6 Student Opportunities Industrial Placement The famous Toyota Way is studied on university courses all over the world. The Toyota IP is your chance to be one of select few of UK students who get to experience our world-class production environment for yourself. FOCUSED ON YOUR FUTURE We know that your placement is a huge platform for your future, so we take our responsibilities very seriously. Whether you join us in Engineering, Business Operations Management (Logistics), HR or Finance we'll make sure that you maximise your time with us. You'll be involved with live projects from the start and be given the opportunity to make a real impact within the company, working alongside experienced people who'll go out of their way to make sure that you're always learning. ALWAYS DEVELOPING The Toyota Way means that continuous improvement and respect for people are hard-wired into our culture. We're always looking for ways to improve - and that which can extend your development. Over the 11 month placement, you will be first given training to sharpen and enhance your skills, while receiving regular feedback on how you are progressing. At the end of your Industrial Placement, you'll present to senior managers on your projects to demonstrate how you've added value to Toyota. 7 Student Opportunities Industrial Placement WHAT WE LOOK FOR We're looking for individuals who will share our values and believe that there's always a better way. So, if you thrive on analysing problems from different angles to develop solutions and take a practical approach to your work, you could go a long way with us. You will also have a consistently strong academic record, with a minimum 2:1 predicted degree result. We expect candidates to have conveyed a strong commitment to their academic studies and have a real interest in the area of the business which they apply for. Furthermore, for Engineering and Finance positions it is a requirement that you will need to be studying a relevant degree. For HR and Business Operations Management, most disciplines are acceptable but business related degrees are preferred. I don t sit at my desk just producing spreadsheets I m actually involved in the running of Accounting and Finance. I spend time with group leaders and engineers. I feel an integral part of the team 5

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME We take on graduates in four areas: Engineering, Business Operations Management, HR and Finance. Wherever you join us, you'll experience working life on the shop floor where we produce our Auris and Avensis models. It's demanding - but we think it's the only way to understand our unique culture and the world-famous Toyota Production System. We place great emphasis on learning by doing - usually through structured, on-the-job training. So, over the course of our programme, you'll find yourself tackling live projects and taking on real responsibilities in your chosen field. Our graduate programme lasts just over 2 years, it is assessed and designed to help you reach the standard needed to move into a specialist position at the end of the programme. 6

The excitement comes from the variety in the job analysing a drawing in the office or working down in the plant. As a quality engineer, I get to drive the finished product on the test track Other companies offer rotation around different departments, but I chose Toyota so that I could focus on Logistics. Of course, I ve seen the whole business including some long nights learning how the engine line works -challenging, but good fun! 7
