1 ACCOUNT MANAGER CORPORATE PARTNERSHIPS Salary: 27,000-33,000 per annum (Fixed Term Contract 1 Year) 37.5 Hours per week Location: Waterloo, London The Outward Bound Trust The Outward Bound Trust is an educational charity providing adventure-based, outdoor learning for young people from six centres across the UK. Overview of the Fundraising department The Fundraising department currently raises 5m plus a year to support the work of The Outward Bound Trust, predominantly to cover the cost of bursary supported places for underprivileged young people on our personal development courses and towards capital (building project) requirements across The Trust s centres. Funds are raised from high net worth individuals, corporate organisations, charitable trusts and foundations, and through high quality events. The majority of the 14 strong Fundraising Department is based in Waterloo, London, while our Trusts and Foundations function is based at the Head Office in Hackthorpe, Cumbria. We have an established Patron s Company with over 50 companies contributing over 1.3m per annum in cash contributions. Each company is heavily involved in our work, sponsoring young people from their preferred school or area of choice. Our Board of Trustees is chaired by HRH The Duke of York. Our Patron is HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. Both are heavily involved in the Charity s work. PURPOSE OF THE JOB Achieve corporate fundraising income targets from a portfolio of corporate partner accounts, existing and new. Devise and implement creative profitable fundraising opportunities with partners, engaging their customers and employees, monitoring progress and evaluating benefit. Be instrumental in developing profitable long term partnerships with corporate supporters that both raise significant funds, and deliver on The Trust s wider objectives. The post holder will report to the Head of Development.

2 JOB DESCRIPTION Key responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to) the following: Specific projects Manage and implement a portfolio of designated Corporate Partner accounts and projects, maximising potential income Achieve income targets Devise creative and innovative fundraising opportunities with corporate partners using a range of fundraising mechanics Ensure all corporate partners deliver additional benefit to The Outward Bound Trust Manage the allocation of restricted bursary on The Trust s internal systems for all corporate accounts. Account management Liaise with corporate contacts, build and develop relationships Assist with the preparation of contractual agreements where necessary Liaise with Head of Development and other Account Managers to develop a detailed, tailored and effective customer journey plan for each account in the portfolio Ensure individual accounts meet their income targets Effectively solve problems and manage risk to ensure achievement of targets Prepare presentations, proposals, plans, contact reports as necessary Compile regular and timely project and account status reports as required Evaluate and document corporate partnerships, ensuring all activity is recorded accurately on the database Promote The Trust s events, campaigns, sponsorship, payroll giving and volunteering to partners, maximising income potential from all opportunities Input creative solutions to maximise opportunities to develop and strengthen relationships with current and past corporate partners in order to increase the value of their support. New business Work with Head of Development to implement the New Business strategy where appropriate

3 Produce and deliver high quality creative presentations and proposals to develop new income streams from existing partners, ensuring a tailored approach at all times. Organisational Monitor income and expenditure/resources for all accounts Establish and build effective and productive relationships within the Corporate Partnerships Team and across The Trust Keep up to date with developments in both the Corporate and Charity Sector, e.g. sector specific news and competitive activity. Work with others Work with Marketing Team, Education Team, Individuals and Events fundraising colleagues to meet partner and campaign needs Work with other departments within The Trust in executing and delivering corporate projects and plans Work closely with the Head of Development to inform, promote and deliver the Corporate Partnerships Strategy Attend internal meetings, seminars, working groups, provide reports and analysis as required Provide additional support and administrative assistance to Corporate Partnerships Team enhancing excellent Account Management of major corporate projects where appropriate or required Prepare regular reports for the Head of Development and other key staff of progress regarding status of accounts as required. General Raise awareness of The Trust s work and the urgent need for funds Support and work within the framework of the Fundraising Strategy positively at all times Represent the Corporate Partnerships team as required Regularly travel to meetings across the UK including overnight stays where necessary, and facilitate hosting opportunities for all accounts at our residential centres as part of employee engagement activities Any other duties as may be required, including but not limited to attending events/functions outside of normal office hours Primary job function is based in London.

4 PERSON SPECIFICATION [E] Essential Criteria [D] Desirable Criteria Experience Experience in managing multi functional projects with a particular focus on fundraising partnerships [E] Substantial experience in client facing development roles [E] Experience and proven success in corporate fundraising including Account Management and Account Development, or equivalent experience of Account Management and Account Development in commercial sector [E] Proven success in maximising the value of existing relationships [E] Experience of developing affinity marketing campaigns [D] Knowledge, Training and Qualifications Computer literate - good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and ability to use databases for recording and reporting [E] Experience of working with CRM databases [D] Educated to degree level or equivalent [D] Skills and Personal Attributes Proven team player, willing to accept additional responsibility, show initiative, and proactively work to exceed targets [E] Good planning and prioritising skills to manage a varied and pressurised workload, while focusing on the "Big Picture" [E] Excellent presentation and communication skills [E] Diplomatic and persuasive, able to build objective lines of argument/rationales for action and present viewpoints assertively [E] Proven track record of delivering creative solutions to overcome obstacles and enhance profitability [E]

The post holder will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure under the Disclosure and Barring Service. Salary Salary is commensurate with experience for a 37.5 hour week ( 27,000 to 33,000 per annum). Holidays 24 days per annum. Probation Period There is a 1 month probationary period from the employee s start date.

6 Current benefits Sick Pay 8 weeks at full pay for all staff once probationary period is complete. Personal Accident Insurance whilst at work or commuting. Health Care Cash Plan staff have the choice of joining this after their probationary period. Pension Scheme Auto enrolment into our Standard Life Scheme is now a requirement for all staff between 22 and 66 years, and who earn more than the lower earnings limit ( 9,440pa). All other staff are entitled to join the scheme if they wish. Berghaus uniform items and discounted rates for purchase of own items. Staff Discount on OBT Courses available to all staff during their period of employment. CONTRACT OF EMPLOYMENT This is a fixed-term contract for a period of 1 year.
