1 Job Title: High Value Directorate: Fundraising and Comms Job Family: Fundraising 100% Reports to: Head of Voluntary Fundraising Grade: AAI Grade E Location: London, UK CRB Required: NA: Standard: Enhanced: Direct Reports: Role Overview: Two: International High Value and Major Partnerships Manager (Asia), who in turn manages the Major Partnerships Officer (Asia) Job Role As a team manager and high value fundraising expert in the International Directorate, this role has overall responsibility for the delivery of high value fundraising income growth globally from new and existing ActionAid fundraising markets, supporting the organisational priority to diversify our income and triple high value income. This role proactively identifies opportunities to enhance the quality of AAI s fundraising and co-ordinate a range of initiatives to ensure AAI continually raises the bar on high value fundraising performance, such as the on-going development and improvement of necessary systems, processes and policies, and developing and delivering bespoke capacity building required for expansion into new fundraising markets. This role is also responsible for direct income generation - monitoring and managing ActionAid International investment for an Asia High Value Fundraising Hub, focused on accessing high value funding from key financial centers in Asia. High Value fundraising within AAI includes fundraising from individual major donors, companies and all grant-making foundations. Accountabilities Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities: Strategic leadership and management of the High Value Fundraising Team Key Activities Working across the High Value fundraising and the wider fundraising community, develop and implement an international high value fundraising strategic plan to enable ActionAid to triple its high value income by the end of the current strategy period. Provide comprehensive and effective management support to line reports to maximize staff potential and enable VFT to deliver on objectives and plans Work across VFT and International Fundraising and

2 Communications Directorate to ensure the effective flow of information and co-ordination of initiatives and plans. Commission expertise from consultants as necessary to meet agreed capacity building goals. Provide strategic and technical advice, and build the capacity of AAI to maximise high value fundraising performance Provide hands on strategic and technical support to ActionAid s new and established high value fundraising programmes to enable successful, sustainable high return fundraising. Lead on the design, development and delivery of training and other capacity-building/skill-sharing initiatives for a range of stakeholders, to ensure that AAI is able to continually raise the bar on high value fundraising performance Work with board members and senior staff members across AAI to build their understanding of high value fundraising and their role in helping AAI to access and manage funds from this income stream. Take a lead in facilitating the sharing of skills, experience and innovation across AAI by overseeing the development and coordination of special interest groups and skills share workshops Play a key role in the recruitment process/selection/appointment of senior high value fundraising staff across all ActionAid markets. Keep abreast of high value fundraising trends and proactively share these insights across the fundraising community Support fundraising programmes in securing the resources and investment they need to pursue new high value fundraising opportunities. Raising income and fostering effective income generations in countries Design, enhance and implement effective systems, processes and policies required to govern high value fundraising globally Overall responsibility of the Asia High Value Fundraising Hub investment, providing strategic guidance and oversight of the newly launched fundraising programme and the development of the unit in line with organisational priorities and philanthropy trends in the region. Lead on the development and implementation of a fundraising appeal and other tools and products to enable high value fundraising growth. Oversee and ensure the development of policies needed to underpin high value fundraising across AAI, such as the cross border fundraising policy and corporate fundraising policy. Work across AAI to support the development of tools, products and channels for fundraising growth which are closely aligned with AA s strategy and programming approach. Work closely with the Fundraising Analyst to ensure the development of systems and processes for the monitoring of high value fundraising programmes across AAI against agreed performance KPIs, national strategies and fundraising objectives/plans. Ensure successful investment fund spend on high value investment, effectively monitor performance and support countries for future investment applications Oversee the development of systems, processes and policies needed to underpin high value fundraising across AAI.

3 Support organisational planning, reporting and performance management for effective high value fundraising Provide support to Country Directors and senior fundraising staff in the development and delivery of their high value fundraising strategies and annual plans and budgets Ensure timely input to organisational processes e.g. high value income and expenditure monitoring, assessing delivery against KPIs and analysing fundraising investment performance Input into the continuous improvement of planning systems and processes that meet the needs of high value fundraising and grant management Network internationally to keep pace with international developments and engage with other INGOs to benchmark fundraising performance Approximate number of people managed in total Matrix Manager (projects/dotted line) Team Leader Grandfather- manager of Team Leaders/Managers Remit covers all ActionAid countries Typical People Management Responsibility What is the global remit? Operates in: Three: International (High Value) Grade D, Major Partnerships Manager (Asia) Grade D and Major Partnerships Officer (Asia) Grade C Yes Financial (limits/mandates) Role Dimensions Track and report on expenditure throughout the year to allow accurate centralised budget management Direct departmental budget 2011: Organisation-wide expenditure 2011 Person Specification Education & Certifications Essential Knowledge and Experience Relevant degree or similar qualification Professional qualification in a marketing related discipline Demonstrable experience of managing a successful high value fundraising programme (any combination of major donor, foundation and corporate fundraising) and knowledge of current best practice Proven experience of soliciting and managing significant grants from high value donors (major donors, foundations or companies) Strong leadership and team management skills Proven ability to negotiate with and influence a wide range of stakeholders Exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills across different cultures Experience of developing training and capacity building programmes, combined with ooutstanding presentation and facilitation skills
