2 FOXTEL RECONCILIATION ACTION PLAN 2009/10 Message from the CEO We are now into our second year of our commitment to a Reconciliation Action Plan. FOXTEL remains eager to play its part in affirming a better understanding of Indigenous Australia and Australian history through its role as a broadcaster and employer. FOXTEL aims to offer leadership in the Media Industry by contributing to the reconciliation of Indigenous and non- Indigenous people in building the core TV/New Media and general business skills of Indigenous people and in doing so enable better professional possibilities and as relevant for participants to share their positive stories and culture via media channels throughout Australia. In 2008/09, FOXTEL set the foundations of what we wanted to achieve in the areas of Building Relationships, creating opportunities for Cultural Respect, and also for developing Employment Opportunities. In 2009/10, it s all broadening our horizons and gaining momentum. I will personally remain the Chair of the RAP Steering Group which meets 3 times per year, to ensure we are meeting our targets and are on track. There will also be a new Working Group made of business leaders who will meet monthly to ensure momentum is maintained across the appropriate departments of our organisation and all of our RAP KPI s are achieved. As well as continuing on with our actions from Year 1, our 4 major new initiatives this year include: A commitment to developing and broadcasting 30 minutes of television content that affirms the strengths, joys and stories of Indigenous Australians whose lives are as individually rich as their heritage and land. Inclusion of Indigenous Cultural Awareness as part of our Diversity Training that is scheduled to be run across our entire business in late 2009 Actively participating in the AIMSC (Australian Indigenous Minority Supplier Council) initiative as appropriate Increasing our commitment to our Indigenous Traineeship Program from 2 to 4 across Sydney and Melbourne, and increasing our overall Indigenous Employment Target to 10 roles across the company. We will continue to work with, and seek advice and support from our friends at organisations such as Reconciliation Australia, and we look forward to reporting on our progress in Kim Williams Chief Executive Officer 2

Ownership role to be reassessed at the end of the 2009 Calender Year. 5 2 CULTURAL RESPECT Externally: ACTION RESPONSIBILITY TIMELINE TARGET External Community: Support Indigenous events, talent and initiatives Sponsorship or in-kind support for select Indigenous activities and events: o Support Indigenous creative talent and cultural events o Provide opportunities for our staff to support Indigenous events and initiatives Integrate Indigenous focus into existing community projects: o School based promotion of Indigenous content and events o Indigenous participation in Street TV project Celebrate National Reconciliation Week and use this as an opportunity to educate our staff and to raise awareness of Indigenous issues Report on FOXTEL s progress through our Corporate Community investment Report. 6 ACTION RESPONSIBILITY TIMELINE TARGET Commence our 3 year plan for our Reconciliation Creative Strategy Purpose: To affirm the strengths, joys and stories of Indigenous Australians whose lives are as individually rich as their heritage and land. Sorry has been said, and it s time to rectify the stereotypes and boundaries standing between cultural unity in Australia. We are telling the stories of independent, intelligent people who challenge the attitudes and perceptions towards reconciliation every day an apology means nothing without change. 2 key Initiatives: 1. Reconciliation Week 2010 to work across the platform to schedule exciting and inspiring Indigenous content 2. Content Delivery Year 1 to create 24 minutes of content. Manager, Area 51 On-going To create a pilot that gains the support of corporate and allows Area 51 to continue generating Indigenous content. Liaise with Aurora Community Channel to promulgate content on air and online Aurora is an integrated broadcast and online destination for community involvement across Australia. It is a not for profit organisation, on-air 24/7 on FOXTEL Digital, AUSTAR Digital and Optus TV featuring FOXTEL Digital. 8 Internally: ACTION RESPONSIBILITY TIMELINE TARGET Internal Staff Community: Promotion of Indigenous Issue / success stories through: Providing links from our FOXTEL Connecting Intranet site to external sites such as Reconciliation Australia Coverage of any Indigenous programs we deliver through our internal newsletter (to continue to educate FOXTEL staff on Indigenous matters such as programming of events / apology anniversaries etc) RAP Working Group Demonstrated promotion of issues/stories through at least 3 FOXTEL publications per annum Development of a cultural awareness programme within FOXTEL to be rolled out in line with our Diversity & EEO Policies. Ensure that all areas who have Indigenous Employees have completed a Cultural Awareness Program prior to traineeship commencement Continue to ensure that our HR Policies reflect and provide for our Indigenous Cultural Responsibilities HR Business Partner By Mar % attendance rate at diversity program All departments with new individual employee specific cultural awareness program Implementation of Indigenous Cultural Protocols as appropriate: Inviting traditional owners to perform a Welcome to Country at appropriate FOXTEL events Acknowledging country on our website and other doc s as required Display Indigenous Art as suitable RAP Working Group to coordinate At least 1 event per annum with Welcome to Country 3 pieces of Indigenous Art on display Maintain current published acknowledgements off country 8

9 3 INDIGENOUS EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES & SKILLS FOXTEL ACTION RESPONSIBILITY TIMELINE TARGET Indigenous Regional Work Experience Program: To provide a minimum of 2 Indigenous students the opportunity to participate in work experience at FOXTEL, to ensure that we are providing awareness of our industry. RAP Co-ord HR Business Partner In line with Foot in the Door Program 2 or more regional Indigenous students complete 1 week work experience by the end of x Indigenous 12 month Work Programs Provide 2 x opportunities for Indigenous people to work on a rotational program within Broadcast Operations with permanent placement for solid performance at the end of the program Provide 1 x opportunity for an Indigenous person to work in Area 51 on specific projects as a 12 month trial HR Business Partner 1 x Business Lead 1 st program due for completion in Feb 2010, with 2 candidates to successfully replace them A partnership with FOX Sports, Premier Media Group Melbourne for an Indigenous 12 month Work Program Provide 1 x opportunity for an Indigenous person to work in the Melbourne Studio s during AFL Season to complete a Certificate 3 FOXTEL HR Director PML HR Director Person commences no later than Mar person to commence by Mar 2010 Create targeted FOXTEL Indigenous Recruitment Strategy All externally advertised roles to be made available specifically through Indigenous target markets Resourcing Leader 10 Indigenous people in roles in place by 9

10 ACTION RESPONSIBILITY TIMELINE TARGET Research and prepare for Indigenous School Based Traineeship for 2010 Work with a local Sydney College to discuss potential opportunity to work together in 2010, using 2009 as an opportunity to develop program, promote program and understand best ways to work at FOXTEL Resourcing Leader RAP Co-ord July December 2009 Minimum of 1 student to commence in Jan 2010 Support the AIMSC Initiative as a founding member Utilise the services of at least one supplier from the AIMSC initiative, therefore creating employment opportunities in the broader community Manager, Procurement Minimum of 1 supplier to be utilised by May 2010 Develop a 2-fold mentoring program For internal Indigenous Employees work with AFL Sportsready and Dare2Lead to obtain external Indigenous mentors rolemodels For external suppliers work with the AIMSC Supplier Base and provide mentoring from our FOXTEL leaders (volunteers) on how they can build business relationships skills TBA Organisational Development person from HR Mentoring program in place and being utilised. 10
