Standardize Improvements for Maintenance of Critical Process Parameters. To gain a better understanding of the sheet metal like steel making process and its basics. To acquire service parameters essentials and be able to apply key concepts. Generating awareness of product among service centre employees.

3 Mr. Manish Kumar Aggarwal from The Mindfood Chef explained that 5S, abbreviated from the Japanese words seiri, seito, seiso, seiketsu, shitsuke, is not just a methodology, it is a culture that has to be built in to any organization which aims for spontaneous and continuous improvement of working environment and working conditions. It involves everyone in the organization from the top level to bottom. The Japanese developed this simple and easily understandable words, religiously practiced the philosophy of 5S at every aspect of their life and have made it a world wide recognizable system. Mr. Manish Kumar Aggarwal addressed the participants giving brief introduction of session.

4 Implement 5S - For A Safer Living Mr. Manish Kr. Aggarwal explicate that it s a systematic development process for creating a clean, safe and efficient workplace, where it is easy do things precisely. Benefits of 5S were shared so that it helps to eliminate waste, streamline production, and optimize efficiencies. If we adopt 5s in our life we make a commitment to put safety, organization and effectiveness ahead of production deadlines, profits and output. The end result is always an increase in overall success.

5 Brief on 5S Seiri, or Sort :- It is an identification and elimination of all unnecessary items from the workplace. Seiton, or Systematize:- It is to put every necessary item in proper order, and focuses on efficient and effective storage methods. Seiso, or Sweep:- It is to inspect the workplace and equipment for defects and to clean the workplace daily. Seiketsu, or Standardize:- It involves creating visual controls and guidelines for keeping the workplace organized. Shitsuke, or Self-Discipline:- It involves training and discipline to ensure that everyone follows the 5S standards. This is a condition where all members practice the first four S s spontaneously and willingly as a way of life. Eminent members of TATA Steel Mr. Harshender Garg ; Sr. Sales Manager & Mr. Shashi Kant Pathak ; PAG also attended the session.

6 Safety First Mr. Manish ended his session by presenting a video clip on safety measures that are strictly followed at TSL. With this, we ensured that TSL is committed to the goal of ensuring zero harm to their employees, and the community in which it operates. The 5s session finished with the conclusion that safety and health of every person who work in or is associated with the TATA Steel Group is their first priority.

7 Knowledge Sharing on Steel Making Process Mr. Shashi Kant Pathak from Technology Group, TSL described the process of Galvanized steel making, & service parameters to be followed during material processing were duly explained. He briefly explained the process flow, from raw material to end product, and galvanizing facility at TATA steel. With the couple of slides he described the material processing defects, their solutions and good material handling & storage practices. Mr. Shashi Kant Pathak (PAG) shared service parameters & Steel making process.

8 Session - Benefits After getting familiar with 5S training, it was understood that performance parameters such as defect rate, equipment breakdown and number of accidents shall decrease considerably. It does provide a solid foundation for achieving operational excellence. Better understanding by the workers on viewing iron to steel making process and service parameters that needs to be identified at the time of material processing. Mode of instruction was Hindi, day to day life examples caught the interest of workers. The pleasantries of the simplified work environment increased employee moral. At the end of program, workers were highly inspired and everyone assured of 5S at Workplace, Home and elsewhere.
