3 Welcome Dear Applicant, Thank you for your interest in the role of Managing Director, Enterprise and Innovation at Leonard Cheshire Disability. The health and social care market is undergoing significant change and Leonard Cheshire Disability is ambitious to grow. This role will focus on developing and securing funding for programmes and projects aligned to the manifesto of Leonard Cheshire Disability, which provide additional support and opportunities to disabled people, outside of the remit of social care. You will be integral to the goal of expanding our services and ensuring that value for money is achieved for both the service users and by LCD s volunteers. You need to have significant and demonstrable success in developing project proposals and securing funding, as well as possessing an entrepreneurial flair with the ability to generate and maximise commercial opportunities. We are looking for someone who is passionate about health and social care and motivated by a real challenge. You will bring vision, passion, structure and foresight to the needs of the people we support and in turn our organisation. We are a large organisation with over 7,500 staff who work with more than 7,000 disabled people in the UK. You will be a senior member of the management team and work closely with members of the Management Board and other Managing Directors to lead and deliver LCD s corporate priorities. 5 Job Description Job Title: Managing Director, Enterprise and Innovation Reporting to: Department: Director of Development Development PURPOSE OF THE JOB To develop and secure funding for programmes and projects aligned to the manifesto of Leonard Cheshire Disability, which provide additional support and opportunities to disabled people, outside of the remit of social care. To lead implementation and delivery of these programmes to high standards, meeting expectations of people using the services, funders and Leonard Cheshire Disability. To ensure best value for money is gained from LCD s volunteers To be a senior member of the management team and to work closely with members of the Management Board and other Managing Directors to lead and deliver LCD s corporate priorities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES To research and identify appropriate new areas of work and evaluate their viability and potential impact. To bid for and secure funding for these projects and programmes. To ensure the team is appropriately resourced, within budget, to deliver objectives. To expand the range and reach of the work of the team, ensuring that more disabled people benefit from it. To deliver the objectives of the team as set out in the departmental business plan, as well as business as usual. To brief the management board and Trustees on relevant issues in regard to economic and social inclusion for disabled people and to be the lead individual in regard to the Charity s response and action in regard to any matter within this area. To establish appropriate links with central and local government, funding agencies, partners and the wider voluntary sector and other key external organisations to ensure new business development is achieved within appropriate and agreed sectors. To win large-scale contracts and develop the systems and quality controls to deliver them effectively. 5

6 To work with the Director of Fundraising and Director of Corporate Affairs to ensure a common approach to raising funds and promoting the work of the directorate. To ensure that all service delivery standards meet the appropriate regulatory standards and ensure that these place the disabled person at the centre of our activities. To ensure that all services reflect the values and principles of Leonard Cheshire Disability. To be responsible for the work and professional conduct of staff and ensure that appropriate expertise is developed and maintained through appropriate continuing professional development. To manage the budget for the Directorate and all designated services. Other duties which may be required from time to time. All responsibilities to be carried out in accordance with the Business Plan objectives. 6

7 Person Specification Essential Requirements Educated to degree level, or to have equivalent experience. Substantial experience in leading and motivating a diverse team to deliver required results. Significant demonstrable success in developing project proposals and securing funding. Experience of project or programme management, including successful delivery of objectives to time and budget. Proven experience of working with external partners in developing and implementing successful innovative projects. Ability to contribute to the wider strategy and corporate objectives of the charity. Understanding of partnership working including with charities. Technical Competencies & skills Knowledge of government policy and relevant legislation and disability issues. Knowledge and understanding of funding models and processes. Excellent understanding and application of equality and diversity within the working environment. Outstanding negotiating and interpersonal skills with the ability to create positive and sustainable internal and external relationships. Able to think innovatively and creatively, and respond positively to new opportunities. Entrepreneurial flair with the ability to generate and maximise commercial opportunities. 7
