3 Sponsored by: ERM Wednesday, October 31, 2018 Time Program 8:00 9:00 a.m. Registration and Check-In 9:00 10:30 a.m. Implementing Responsible Business Conduct: Public-Private Collaboration Around the world there is a growing expectation or companies to respect human rights, labor rights, the environment and business ethics both in their operations and throughout their supply chain. There are increasing international frameworks on responsible business conduct as well as national legislation to address serious harms such as forced labor. Customers, consumers, businesses and the general public are also demanding that companies take steps to prevent negative impacts and mitigate harms linked to their business operations and supply chains. However, supply chains are extremely complex and while policy makers have taken steps to try and harmonize standards, the proliferation of frameworks and regulations related to supply chain due diligence results in a daunting challenge for many companies. Many of the issues and conditions that lead to human rights abuses result from deep-rooted and underlying developmental challenges as well as lack of adequate human rights implementation from governments. How can companies operationalize international frameworks and regulations and address these complicated issues? What are some innovative approaches and partnerships that could be scaled?
