3 The National Aboriginal Economic Development Board The Board is comprised of First Nations, Inuit and Métis business and community leaders from across Canada. 3

4 Natural Resource Development Natural resource development is a cornerstone of the Canadian economy. Revenue Employment 4

5 Unlocking Aboriginal Economic Wealth Resource Development in Canada is significant Currently there are 489 major resource projects worth approximately $497.9 billion 84 % of all projects are located within 100km of a First Nations reserve. 5

6 Preparing For Opportunity Maximizing benefits from economic opportunities. In June 2014, the Supreme Court of Canada issued a unanimous decision in favour of the Tsilhqot in Nation, in Roger William et al v. Her Majesty the Queen. Benefit sharing arrangements 6

7 Enhancing Aboriginal Financial Readiness In January 2015, the Board released its report on Enhancing Aboriginal Financial Readiness for Major Resource Development Opportunities.
