1 FUEL JOB APPLICATION PACK Producer Barber Shop Chronicles Fuel is looking for a brilliant, energetic and experienced producer to become part of our busy programme team to deliver ambitious future touring plans for Barber Shop Chronicles by Inua Ellams. This role will involve working closely with Kate McGrath (Director of Fuel) and the Senior Producer to produce future runs of Barber Shop Chronicles, as well as feeding into the life and work of the wider organisation. This is a full-time position on a 13 month fixed term contract (with the potential of extension). We are open to discussion about flexible working. 3 Job description Line manager: Senior Producer Reports: programme assistant, freelancers, interns and volunteers Key roles and responsibilities: 1/ Project Delivery Line produce the future runs of Barber Shop Chronicles, managing all aspects of delivery on schedule and on budget, according to Fuel s producing methodology. Report to the Senior Producer on a regular basis, and to the Director as requested, on the progress of the project, highlighting any significant challenges, risks and mitigations, providing solutions. Book and manage future touring for the production as necessary Plan and fundraise for the project, in line with Fuel s wider fundraising strategy. Manage live grants, mid and final reports for the tour. Lead and coordinate on project evaluation, including compiling end of project reports, and capturing of all data. 2/ Strategic development Play an active role in developing new touring markets and models (commercial, international, larger venues) and seek to increase the reach of Fuel s work with the network established by Barber Shop Chronicles. Contribute to increasing the nature, extent and depth of our engagement with our audiences. Develop best producing practice in relation to delivery and development, and be proactive in sharing learning with the wider Fuel programme team. 3/ Relationship management Be the first point of contact with touring partners and venues, nurturing collaborative and meaningful relationships across the tour Develop relationships with new partners to reach new audiences and markets both in the UK and abroad. Conduct and resolve negotiations with partners with support from the Senior Producer as needed. Contribute to Fuel s relationship management strategy and collaborate with the rest of the Fuel team on cultivation events. Maintain good relationships with artists, supporting their needs, communicating regularly and clearly with them in collaboration with the Director. 4/ Financial management Create complex and large budgets, develop forecasts and manage budget variations throughout each project s lifetime. Ensure cashflows and project budgets are up-to-date at all times, working with the support of Fuel s Administrator.

4 Job description 5/ Audience development, press and marketing To oversee the development of innovative and creative audience development, press and marketing plans for Barber Shop Chronicles in order to reach new, diverse and young audiences nationally and internationally. To work with our PR partners on press, social media and marketing campaigns for the project, including managing freelance teams, co-ordinating the production of web and brochure copy, and delivering key aspects of communications campaigns where required (trailer, image development etc.). To contribute to Fuel-wide communications strategy across press, social media and e-marketing, providing copy and engaging online content where necessary. 6/ Projects administration To write and file contracts for all project team members and ensure the Director has signed off key contracts before sending back and filing. To oversee the booking of travel and accommodation for tours in a timely manner and ensure that all company members are happy with arrangements and have details before travelling. To oversee the compilation of touring packs and schedules with the assistance of producing interns. To liaise with Fuel s Director, Head of Production, Executive Director, Operations and Finance Manager and other team members as necessary. General responsibilities: To actively share skills and knowledge with the rest of the team as part of the job so that new ways of working and good practice can be spread amongst the team. To attend regular meetings with members of the Fuel team and other internal and external meetings. To attend all relevant work in progress, previews, press nights and launch events. To keep up to date with current arts policy particularly in the creative arts sector and to report developments to the Director. To follow Fuel s policies and contribute to their ongoing reviews. To undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by the Director or Senior Producer. Hours 10am 6pm Monday to Friday but some evening and weekend work may be required. Fuel operates a Time Off In Lieu system. Base Somerset House, West Wing, Strand, London, WC2R 1LA The role involves travel around the UK and, occasionally, internationally. Salary 30,000-32,000 per annum, depending on experience Fuel offers a designated stakeholder pension scheme and operates a childcare voucher scheme. Holiday 25 days per year plus bank holidays.

5 Person specifications Essential: An understanding of and a passion for contemporary theatre. A minimum of five years experience of touring and tour-booking mid-scale shows with a portfolio of contacts in the UK and abroad. A demonstrable track record in successfully steering complex projects from start to completion, including evaluation. Strong negotiation skills. Experience of working with co-producers and commissioning partners in the subsidised and/or commercial theatre sectors in the UK and internationally as well as outside the sector (e.g. corporate sector, broadcast industry, higher education). Excellent financial literacy and proven experience of overseeing large budgets effectively ( 150K and over) Experience of tour management of large teams on the road (10 +) Experience of developing and delivering innovative and strategic audience development, press and marketing plans. Proven success in fundraising. A proven aptitude for time management and the ability to work to and maintain a tight schedule. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of people from varied backgrounds. Familiarity with Arts Council England s funding streams, structure and operation. The ability to assess complicated situations quickly and identify ways forward creatively. A hard working, personable and unflappable nature. Desired: Familiarity with Fuel s projects and the artists we work with. Understanding of the wider arts sector in the UK and internationally. Digital literacy and experience of digital projects. Experience of working with/in the commercial sector. Working knowledge of Quickbooks or other accounting systems.
