Casebook is designed to support better decision making, and better outcomes, for the vulnerable children and their families served by public human services agencies. The Annie E. Casey Foundation, a national leader in improving life outcomes for disadvantaged children and their families, founded Case Commons as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in Nationally recognized human services experts and innovators with backgrounds in human services practice, policy and management, working with best-in-class product developers, designers and software engineers, developed the Casebook product. From the beginning of Case Commons first implementation with Indiana, the results have been impressive: Implementation was accomplished in half the usual state go-live time. The cost to implement Casebook was a fraction of the average state implementation cost at the time. User satisfaction is very high. There have been dramatic, double-digit increases in share of children placed with kin and face-to-face contact with parents and family case managers. Casebook has from the beginning been built and enhanced by an agile development process. Features include a rich visual history of families that is populated automatically, extensive graphic visualization and access to real-time data as well as collaboration with multiple users across different roles. Case Commons recent contract award in California has brought increased visibility and opportunity. A number of states are currently undertaking new child welfare system procurement processes. Increased activity is fueled in part by modernized federal government technology regulations, adopted by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in 2016, for which Case Commons advocated. In addition to a number of active new procurements, there is incremental opportunity in California. The new CEO will play a pivotal role in making strategic decisions at a time when the organization is poised for growth. With the California win and a set of promising opportunities, now is the time to leverage Case Commons strong foundation and brand, make strategic decisions -- and seize the opportunities.
