1 Training Title PERFORATING GUNS USING EXPLOSIVE TECHNIQUE Training Duration 5 days Training Dates & Venue Perforating Guns using Explosive Techniques Training 530 June 4 July $4,250 Dubai, UAE In any 5 star hotel in Dubai. Exact venue will be informed later. Training Fees 4,250 US$ per participant for Public Training includes Materials/Handouts, tea/coffee breaks, refreshments & Buffet Lunch Training Certificate Define Management Consultants Certificate of course completion will be issued to all attendees. Language: English TRAINING INTRODUCTION & DESCRIPTION Oil industries make use of Perforations for Hydrocarbon Exploration. Well bore has different formations which contains different fluids. During drilling these formation fluids are not allowed to flow inside the well bore with over balanced mud. Once well is drilled & Logged, formations are identified which are interesting (Hydrocarbon bearing). For hydrocarbon exploration well is cased & cemented to check the fluid flow from these formations. A path has to be created for the fluid from interested formation by the method termed Perforation. A tunnel is created in casing, cement & formation by Perforation technique. Depending upon the well completion, Formation pressure & other parameters different perforating technique are used to perforate the well. Basically different perforating guns are used to fire the bullets (Jet Charges) to create the tunnels. These jet charges make use of Explosives to perform the task. The course will cover various methods of perforations, their advantages & disadvantages. This will help the participants to decide the method for perforation in his/ her well. TRAINING OBJECTIVE The main objective of this training is to familarise the personnel s in Oil industries about the various techniques of Perforations. Client will be able to decide the better way or technique for perforating his/ her well. Since in all perforating techniques Explosives are used which are highly dangerous? These require special way to handle, store & use. The

2 training will cover the explosive handling & various safety measures required during perforation operations. WHO SHOULD ATTEND? The course is useful for Reservoir Engineers Geologists Drillers Loggers TRAINING METHODOLOGY The training will be conducted using power point presentation with examples, some case histories. Highly Interactive program with exercises, individual approach and group role playing alternate with practical statements based on theory and supplemented with practical tips based on actual experience. During the course the first draft of a strategic plan at company or department levels will be made by the participants. Power point presentation will be presenting the main points with appropriate time for discussions. Videos will be watched, Exercises to provide practical experience, and case studies to support different ideas will be supporting the learning. Participants will be encouraged to bring their own experiences and challenge the learned concepts and practices. TRAINING OUTCOME This will help the participants to decide the method for perforation in his/ her well apart from the various safety measures to be taken while handling the dangerous explosives. DAILY OUTLINE Perforation introduction, Why Perforation-A way to formation fluid to well bore. Explosive use in Exploration a brief History Development of Explosives for oil Exploration Explosion & Detonation Formation of Jet Types of Explosive Their classification- -High & Low Explosives - Primary & Secondary Explosives Dangers associated with Explosives & Their handling Special requirements of storage of Explosives- Magazines types etc Transportation of Explosives- Requirement of Explosive vans & Licensees

3 Development of jet perforators Technology Factors affecting Perforators efficiency- Depth of Penetration, entry hole diameter Safety while perforating -Safety requirement during Perforation -Various factors which may cause problems - Radio frequencies a hazard during Perforations - RF detectors Safe detonators Their requirement, Types Types of perforations Over Balanced or Conventional Gun Perforations -Hollow steel carriers (Multiple uses) - TAG or Throw Away Guns Under balance or through tubing Perforations - Zero Phasing guns phasing guns - Tri phase guns - Pivot Guns TCP (Tubing Conveyed Perforators) - Why - Its advantages & disadvantages - Special requirement for TCP - Different type of firing system Extreme Over balance Perforators - A way of Perforation & simulation - Advantages & disadvantages Various perforators Available types If required other jobs like bridge plug, Packer & Cement retainer setting, Back Off jobs using Explosives can also be included. Relevant Case Studies Case Studies, Practical Exercises, Discussions & Last review, Pre & Post Assessments will be carried out.
