SPR is also deeply committed to advancing the City of Seattle's Race and Social Justice Initiative (RSJI) by working to end institutional and structural racism. SPR's Recreation Division provides opportunities for people from all backgrounds to play, learn, and lead healthy, active lives through programs and facilities. People gather, take classes and play sports in SPR's 27 community centers. They learn to swim, swim laps, and have fun with the whole family at SPR's 10 pools, learn boating and participate in boating activities at the Green Lake and Mt. Baker small craft centers. Recreation programs and facilities like Teen Life Centers, the Late-Night program, and Community Learning Centers focus on helping youth and teens. Offered throughout many of our facilities are Lifelong Recreation programs for older adults and Specialized Programs for people with disabilities. The Recreation Division is also focused on serving and actively engaging diverse communities through Seattle Park District funded initiatives such as Art in Parks, Get Moving and Recreation for All. The SPR Recreation Division is seeking a dynamic individual who is passionate about improving the quality of life of all residing in and visiting the City of Seattle.

2 JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with the Superintendent to set the overall vision for recreation services and program delivery. Establish with clear vision the framework managers and employees operate within in making program development and operational decisions in a decentralized and community guided service delivery model. Manage the department's vital partnership with the Associated Recreation Council and its 37- member Advisory Councils. Work with division managers and supervisors to support employees and volunteers in performing their roles effectively. Promote equity and inclusion by being a leader in creating safe and welcoming spaces for community. Personnel management aligned with the organization's commitment to team capacity building, embracing employees as the backbone of the organization, and an organizational culture that is customer service oriented. Oversee all budgetary and fiscal matters to ensure operations remain within budgetary allocations (approximately $35 million in 2018) and reach revenue targets (nearly $10 million in 2018), following policies and procedures to properly account for all funds handled by the Division. Collaborate with division staff to develop new approaches to meeting the recreational needs of the community and assesses if policy changes are necessary to meet these needs. Develop options and utilize existing systems / new approaches to tracking and assessing data to be used in decision-making and program evaluation. Develop briefing papers, ordinances, resolutions, and agreements in coordination with the Law Department, the Budget Office, Mayor's Office staff, City Council staff and City Council members as needed. Represent the department on citywide policy committees, providing policy and operational input to city decision makers including steering committees. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualifications: A baccalaureate degree in social sciences, human resource management, business administration or related field and two years of responsible professional personnel administration experience in the public sector are required (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class). Experience: At least five years of progressively responsible experience managing and directing employees in service delivery functions for a complex. Six years progressively responsible experience in parks and recreation management, including five years of managerial experience. Four or more years of successful experience planning, developing and implementing a variety of programs and partnerships and maintaining positive relationships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partner organizations and advocacy groups. Four or more years of experience effectively managing public funds and leveraging funding from a variety of sources. A proven track record of managing the Department's relationship with employees, community members, elected officials, partner organizations and advocacy groups. Excellent leadership and supervisory skills including strategic thinking, sound decision-making, strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to achieving results. 3 Strong analytical skills including proven financial management and policy development; Excellent oral and written communication skills. The ability to work under pressure, to adapt to changing circumstances, and to juggle competing priorities. License: Current, valid Driver's license. Articulate and Inspiring spokesperson with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. High standards of personal and professional ethics and integrity with a passion for recreation. Strong motivation, delegation, and decision-making skills with clear and consistent messaging. Ability to effectively direct multi-dimensional responsibilities simultaneously while understanding and supporting a work/life balance.
