2 About our elearning programs CCDI s elearning programs are designed to help organizations advance in their Diversity and Inclusion ( D&I ) journey in a way that is efficient in both time and cost, while adhering to adult learning principles and best practices. The content of our programs is informed by the latest research in the D&I field, as well as years of experience we have had working in D&I within some of Canada s largest workplaces and supporting our clients in their diversity and inclusion journeys. The design of our programs prioritizes concision and interactivity. We provide learners with practical tips, tools and techniques to help them shift their behaviours towards inclusion. We steer away from information-dumping, rather using scenarios to create engagement and provide immediately applicable solutions to real-life challenges. Beyond accessibility: Universal Instructional Design In designing our courses, we adhere to the principles of Universal Instructional Design (UID). UID is a process that involves considering the potential needs of all learners when designing and delivering instruction, in order to remove unnecessary barriers and ensure that the quality of the learning experience is consistent for all learners, regardless of their level of ability. * UID goes beyond accessibility, as it aims to maximize learning while minimizing and ideally eliminating - the need for special accommodations. UID is the reason why CCDI elearning programs do not rely on multimedia as heavily as you might expect. Instead, we strive to build engagement in ways that are consistent and equally accessible to all learners. 4 Diversity and inclusion fundamentals Diversity and inclusion fundamentals explores two factors that are key to the success of any organization: diversity and inclusion. This hands-on, 30-minute elearning program asks learners to think their way through three realistic scenarios involving interactions between colleagues at a hypothetical company that looks, on the surface, to be doing many things right in terms of diversity and inclusion. Learners will analyze the behaviours of the people in the scenario and answer a question about how the people in the situation should react. Feedback to learners answers will introduce more conceptual content, such as the definition of diversity, representation, inclusion, equity and equality. Learning objectives By the end of the program, learners will be able to: Differentiate between representation and diversity, and between equity, equality and inclusion. Describe the business case for developing a work culture that values diversity and is inclusive of all. Understand how their own dimensions of diversity impact their worldview and workplace behaviours. Plan/visualize inclusive behaviours they can immediately implement in the workplace. Topics covered include: the four circles of diversity dimensions; the difference between equal and equitable treatment; flexibility and accommodation; the business case for diversity and inclusion; and how to put inclusion into practice. elearning overview Self-directed 30 minutes long Bilingual (English and French) Easy to upload to your Learning Management System (SCORM or TinCanAPI) Developed in Captivate 9 100% accessible (compliant with WACG2) Downloadable toolkit with key takeaways Downloadable podcast with a 10-minute narration Discount for CCDI Employer Partners We can customize the program to match your company s branding and learning needs. 5 Managing bias in hiring Bias-free Hiring explores an important factor that can affect the success of hiring at any organization: bias. Learners will analyze the hiring practices and answer questions about the appropriateness, potential consequences and alternatives to those practices. Feedback to learners answers will introduce the more conceptual content, such as the definition and sources of bias, and a three-step approach to mitigate the effect of bias. Learning objectives By the end of the program, learners will be able to: Identify when bias might be affecting their hiring decisions. Recognize the possible consequences of bias. Develop alternative approaches to help minimize the effects of bias on hiring. Topics covered include: impact of bias on resume screening, interviewing, and candidate selection; alternative approaches to minimize impact on bias; unpacking the communication skills requirement; unpacking the fit criterion; unpacking the sell yourself principle. elearning overview Self-directed 30 minutes long Bilingual (English and French) Easy to upload to your Learning Management System (SCORM or TinCanAPI) Developed in Captivate 9 100% accessible (compliant with WACG2) Downloadable toolkit with key takeaways Downloadable podcast with a 10-minute narration Discount for CCDI Employer Partners We can customize the program to match your company s branding and learning needs. 6 Unconscious Bias Unconscious Bias can affect a wide range of workplace behaviours and decisions, including hiring and promotion, salary, performance evaluations and workplace interactions. Bias in the workplace can lead to a toxic environment, flawed decision-making, grievances, turnover and employee disengagement. This 30-minute elearning program will assist learners in avoiding these negative consequences by helping them better understand what bias is, its sources, and how can be managed. Learners will be asked to think their way through four realistic scenarios that illustrate the impact of bias on how we network, how we assess people and situations, and how we work with others. They will then be provided with information on the mechanics of bias, and practical steps they can take immediately to mitigate the impact of bias in the workplace. Learning objectives By the end of the program, learners will be able to: Define conscious and unconscious bias. Describe how biases are acquired. Recognize workplace behaviours and decisions that may be influenced by bias. Apply strategies to manage the effects of unconscious bias in the workplace. Topics covered include: neuroscience of bias; in-group bias; group-think; affinity bias; gender bias; confirmation bias; strategies to become aware of bias; strategies to mitigate the impact of bias. elearning overview Self-directed 30-minute long Bilingual (English and French) Easy to upload to your Learning Management System (SCORM or TinCanAPI) 100% responsive 1 100% accessible (compliant with WACG2) Downloadable toolkit with key takeaways Downloadable podcast with a 10-minute narration Discount for CCDI Employer Partners We can customize the program to match your company s branding and learning needs.
