1 Job Description Flow Cytometry Assistant or Specialist (BS-FC-RW) Department Flow Cytometry Grade BI 7 or BI 6 (depending on experience) Salary range 25,795 to 27,090 per annum 30,751 to 34,166 per annum Length of appointment One year in first instance Location Babraham Institute Working Hours 37 Job Profile Summary We are seeking an enthusiastic, proactive individual to join our growing Flow Cytometry Core Facility here at the Babraham Institute as a Flow Cytometry Assistant/Flow Cytometry Specialist. The ideal candidate should have prior experience of flow cytometry and will be employed as a Flow Cytometry Assistant. The level at which the candidate is employed at will be decided at appointment by the interview panel and not what the candidate applied for. Flow Cytometry Assistant Key areas of Responsibility Providing an operator service for the labs cell sorters Equipment maintenance so that all machines are available and functioning including running QC procedures Housekeeping within the flow facility Training of users on analysers Be able to troubleshoot instruments Working with the flow cytometry community within the Research Campus including collaborating with research groups and companies

Provide technical knowledge to assist research staff with all aspects of a flow cytometry experiments, including planning of experiments and assistance in data analysis. 3 Person Specification Flow Cytometry Assistant Criteria Essential Highly Desirable Desirable Shortlisting (please indicate the specific criterion that can be shortlisted) () () () () Education & Qualifications BSc or higher in a biological science Relevant Experience Good troubleshooting skills Competency in both PC and MAC computing system Prior experience of working with Flow Cytometry Knowledge of DIVA and Flow Jo software Knowledge & Skills Able to comprehend and communicate in the English language to a level appropriate for the position Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with staff at all levels Ability to work independently and as part of a team Excellent accuracy and attention to detail Excellent organisational skills, with good time management Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office Personal Attributes & Characteristics Ability to make independent decisions and solve routine problems Self-motivated and adaptable to change Willing to work flexibly at times Empathy with the life sciences work of the Institute

We will provide you with details of this scheme once you commence work. Membership of the scheme is not compulsory but it is designated as Babraham Institute s Stakeholder exempt plan. The Institute does not make contributions to other personal pension schemes.
