1 ROLE PROFILE JOB TITLE: RESPONSIBLE TO: LOCATION: Business Development Manager Head of Business Development 9 Eldon Street, EC2M 7LS INTRODUCTION TO THE PRINCE S TRUST: Youth charity The Prince s Trust helps disadvantaged young people to get their lives on track. It supports 13 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed and those struggling at school and at risk of exclusion. Many of the young people helped by The Trust are in or leaving care, facing issues such as homelessness or mental health problems, or they have been in trouble with the law. The Trust s programmes give vulnerable young people the practical and financial support needed to stabilise their lives, helping develop self-esteem and skills for work. Three in four young people supported by The Prince s Trust move into work, education or training. The Prince of Wales s charity has helped more than 700,000 young people since 1976 and supports 100 more each day. The Business Development team sits within the wider Private Sector fundraising team and is responsible for developing sustainable and high value new corporate partnerships that enable The Trust to achieve its target of supporting 58,000 disadvantaged young people in 2014/15. The direct income target for the Business Development team in 2014/15 is 1.9 million. PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To secure new income for The Prince s Trust from corporations, their employees and their customers primarily from within the Retail and Consumer sectors. RESPONSIBILITY FOR STAFF: 0 BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITY: To manage a personal income target of 250k from new national partnerships. You will also support the Head of Business Development to secure a wider 670k target. HEALTH & SAFETY/RISK: none

2 TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. To secure income through a range of high-value corporate partnerships and to successfully achieve significant income for The Trust across income streams: donations, employee fundraising, cause-related marketing etc. 2. To conduct high quality research to identify and qualify new corporate partners, maintaining up-to-date records. 3. Lead relevant new business meetings and attend networking opportunities, always being a confident and articulate advocate of The Prince s Trust. 4. To develop high quality, bespoke, creative presentations and proposals and partnership agreements, understanding the needs of the target audience. 5. To support the Head in developing significant commercial and consumer facing partnerships. 6. Agree strategies and annual financial targets for personally designated new business and to strive to attain these targets ensuring income is received in accordance with our plan. 7. Support the Head of New Business Development with implementing our new business retail strategy and take responsibility for delivering key parts of the strategy. 8. To support the Head of Business Development to manage, develop and maximise relationships with high level volunteers within our Retail and Consumer Leadership Group. 9. To oversee an effective communication plan within the Retail and Consumer sector in order to maximise empathy with our cause and engagement with our work in the sector. 10. Liaise with relevant internal stakeholders; SMT, Corporate Partnerships, Events, Supporter Development, Marketing & Communications teams as well as regional delivery and fundraising staff to maximise the success of all new partnerships and The Retail & Consumer Leadership Group. 11. Assist with the co-ordination and delivery of cultivation events for senior employees within target companies. 12. To maintain accurate records on Raisers Edge in accordance with the Data Protection Act. 13. To undertake any additional duties within competence as required.

3 CONTEXT OF WORK: The Prince s Trust currently raises 60m annually in order to fund its work helping change around 58,000 young lives in the UK each year. This income is raised by a central team of fundraisers based in the national headquarters in Eldon Street, London, and by a set of distributed teams across The Trust s regional operation sites including English regions, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

4 Person Specification Matrix Criteria required for the role Skills & Knowledge: Experience: Essential Excellent relationship management and communication skills, with the ability to relate to people at all levels. An organised, strong project manager. Proven planning skills and ability to work to tight deadlines. Good written and verbal communication skills, with experience of presenting to external audiences and devising complex budgets. Good influencing skills, with ability both to influence new prospects and manage expectations of Prince's Trust staff to ensure we meet these expectations. An understanding of Corporate Social Responsibility. Experience of business development and/or sales/marketing. Experience of managing a portfolio of activities in a targetdriven environment. Experience in customer service and/or client relationship management. Desirable An understanding of the business economy and what drives corporate behaviour An understanding of Corporate Social Responsibility, employee volunteering and commercial activity. A good working knowledge of the retail and consumer facing sectors Experience of working with volunteers. Experience pitching for large charity of the year and multifaceted partnerships Experience in managing commercial partnerships and an understanding of sponsorship, marketing and communications
