7 Background The e-hrm modules arose out of the fact that health workers are tasked with positions of responsibility involving managing people. HRM skills were lacking in areas of workforce planning, budgeting, work climate improvement, staff supervision and performance management.

8 Course Objectives & Certification To build task knowledge in key HRM areas in order to create a pool of workers at the sub-national level with HRM knowledge and skills To equip non-hr & HR professionals with HR skills that enable them to effectively discharge HR responsibilities To provide easy reference to policy documents relating to HRM

9 Course Design Modular in nature having different modules for different topics Utilizes a self-study approach E-learning approach with voice and PowerPoint presentations Online evaluation and certification Standardized content References from employment legislation In-built monitoring of courses undertaken

The accreditation of the e-hrm courses was thought about in design as a way of motivating health managers course uptake. 2. The HR practitioners regulator ihrm was incorporated in development and accreditation. 3. The award of the continuous professional development (CPD) points was negotiated as part of common management courses CPD for health care managers under common strategy guidelines. 4. The MOH supported in writing letters to regulators towards accreditation of the courses. 5. Challenges included some regulators charging for the accreditation.

13 Course Accreditation Process to wards What s next? Course Development Consultative course development with Ministry of Health (MOH) including course approval. Course accreditation inbuilt in the development. Access of Course & CPD Regulators website hosting the course (IHRM) Products. Course Hosting Hosting of the courses through the global HRH resource center website and link to MOH website. In-built monitoring of course uptake. Accreditation The inclusion of common courses under the common strategy guidelines. Award of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) point (3-4 points). Support by MOH in seeking accreditation.

14 MOVING FORWARD Revising the course to reflect the devolved management of health workers Formalize course accreditation with other regulators. Hosting the course locally in a training Institution for sustainability and increased uptake.
