1 JOB DESCRIPTION ASSISTANT HERDSMAN POSITION OBJECTIVE A dairy farm assistant is responsible for assisting in the management of a dairy herd and dairy operations as directed. You will be required to assist in optimizing the farm performance, to monitor supplies stock and adopt proper herd health protocols. QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE Qualifications Desirable: As an assistant herdsman you will need (as a minimum) Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry Knowledge, Skills & Experience Essential: Dairy management and herd health care experience Capacity to run herd management computer software and receptive to learning new technologies to improve productivity and profitability of the farm

2 Self motivated Reliable Quality and safety conscious Detail oriented Excellent communication skills Aware of surrounding environment and co workers Ability to fit work requirements into facility schedules Accountable for performing work to specifications and requirements of this position Flexibility to adjust workflow daily and still maintain overall work requirements. Physical ability to stand for long periods of time in hard surfaces, crouch, reach, see, feel, and hear while working around cows. Physical ability to be exposed to cold and hot weather, and be able to stand animal odors and dust from shavings or bedding ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/AUTHORITY

3 Reports to Health Director and is under direct supervision of the Herdsman. Works closely and maintains daily communications with other team members from the parlor and other personnel needed GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Follow SOP s at all times Follow animal health protocols and provide feedback to herdsman on issues that need to be addressed and make necessary recommendations. Understand feed nutrition and identify issues to communicate timely with veterinarians, nutritionist and senior management. Ensure the effective operation of all aspects of the milking process, including plant hygiene and somatic cell count, to maintain company standards PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Self motivated and proactive to learn English Attend appropriate training courses to develop further skills and experience when required, and pass on these skills to train others Project a positive attitude towards the Company and identify with its core values

4 WORK SCHEDULE Full time position of a minimum of 60 hours per week 12 hour shifts schedule COMPENSATION Base salary minimum $30,000 a year Future raises available based on merit Some benefits of our comprehensive compensation package include: Eligibility for Health Insurance in 60 days (we pay 50% of individual farm basic premium) Eligibility for 401K savings plan after 1 year (farm will match up to 4% of contributions) Housing allowance ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
