2 About FACT FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology) is the UK s leading media arts centre, based in Liverpool. It is a space where people, art and technology meet. Since the opening of the award-winning building in 2003, FACT has welcomed nearly four million visitors, and every year over 300,000 people visit the three galleries, lab spaces, café, bar and four cinema screens. FACT is a member of LARC, a partnership of nine of Liverpool's leading cultural organisations set up to help ensure that the cultural sector plays a significant role in the regeneration of the Liverpool City Region. We are based in the heart of the alternative Ropewalks area of the city, and through our partner organisations and businesses help drive regeneration of the area. In 2017 FACT commissioned 18 new artworks, and presented 53 ambitious re-stagings of existing work. FACT s commissions and exhibitions also toured across the UK and to Australia, South Korea, Spain and France, resulting in 486,000 visits. Over the years, FACT has worked with internationally acclaimed artists, including Pipilotti Rist, Krzysztof Wodiczko, Weerasethakul Apichatpong, and Wu Tsang. FACT s critically acclaimed Learning Programme experiments with the notion of the art centre as an expanded classroom for lifelong learning, a space for critical dialogues, artistic experiences and intergenerational encounters. In 2018, the artistic programme is an invitation to play with FACT, celebrating a decade since Liverpool was European Capital of Culture and the 15 th anniversary of our building. This feeds into FACT s mission to originate, articulate and present a programme of excellent innovative art through four keys strands: Exhibitions, Learning, Public Programmes, Research & Innovation. FACT is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee.

3 Artistic Programme FACT s Artistic Programme delves into the most topical issues of our contemporary times, and reaches out to wide-ranging audiences both inside our building, in the public realm, and online. Our Visitor Services team works with volunteers as part of our Talent Development strategy, and is key for the effective mediation and translation of the Programme to our audiences. In the context of the 10 th Anniversary since Liverpool was European Capital of Culture, as well as our very own headquarters 15 th, 2018 sees FACT producing an exciting Artistic Programme that unfolds across our building and beyond with the ambition to break out of conventional art spaces and reach and affect new audiences. Our programme for such a special year manifests through a series of ambitious large-scale projects tackling urgent issues such as, amongst others, climate change, the future world of work, or art and science collisions. All projects place a strong focus on artistic excellence and participation, and cut across all Programme strands, including off-site participatory commissions, artist residencies, gallery exhibitions, and learning and engagement initiatives for communities, schools and young people.
