2 Greetings, In these changing times, BAHRA Board of Directors is working hard to provide our members with a year full of informative topics and fantastic speakers! We still have a few months that are not scheduled so if you have a topic that you would like to suggest a speaker or topic for a presentation, please send your suggestion to the board. We are seeing many changes in SHRM and will try to keep everyone informed. I would encourage all members who have SPHR and PHR certifications to go ahead and get your SHRM-SCP or SHRM-CP. I understand the process requires about an hour and is not difficult. This year the board added a new position for Director of Membership. We are excited to have Angela Koch join the board. I also want to welcome Troy Alfson, Director of Technology, Wendy Dailey, Secretary and Nan Poppen, President Elect to the board and thank them all for volunteering. We have started preparing for the 2016 SD State SHRM conference that will be held in Brookings. If you have a little time to spare and would be interested in help out please contact the co-chairs of the conference committee (Jennifer Klingbile and Troy Alfson) and let them know you are available. Both of their addresses are on the BAHRA website. Volunteer for the board or the conference committee only requires a minor commitment and you get to meet and work with a lot of great people. BAHRA and SHRM offer great ways to network and have lots of resources. Whether you are a veteran or just starting, we hope you will find support and information regarding the field of HR. I hope you can join us for many of the upcoming meetings! I am very excited to see what 2015 will bring and am honored to serve as the Chapter President this year. We have met a few times already and have made great progress. The dates are set for April 13-15, 2016 and will be hosted at the Swiftel Center. Our theme is Life in the Fast Lane Keeping Up With HR. The committee is working hard at lining up a great experience for all; including speakers, topics for presentations, entertainment, working with sponsorships and exhibitors, fundraising, marketing and publicity, and so much more. We are excited to be hosting the conference here in Brookings and know it will take a lot of people from BAHRA and the Brookings community to make it an impactful and meaningful experience. While we have made great progress, there is a lot more to do. The planning committee could always use more help.
