3 Exercise 2: What s the word? (5-7 minutes) Read the following dialog with your tutor and try to use context clues to fill in the blanks with the most appropriate word. 4 II. GRAMMAR REVIEW: Topic: Causative Verb + Infinitive (5-6 minutes) Causative verbs cause something to happen, or causes a person to take an action. The following are examples of causative verb + infinitive. Ken asked me to buy him some snacks. I told my friend to meet me at the lobby of the hotel. The TV commercials persuaded the viewers to eat at a fast food restaurant. Remember: You have to make sure that you use to correctly because using to is the most common error with causatives. Other common causative forms that need the to-infinitive are require, encourage, permit, convince, and employ.
