1 Role Title: Community Fundraising Coordinator Salary: 23,000 Contract: Location: Reports to: 1 Year Fixed Term Contract (Possibility of extension dependent on funding) Marshall Street Fundraising Manager Background: Central London Samaritans (CLS) is the biggest of the Samaritans 201 branches. Situated in the heart of London, 450 volunteers deliver the Samaritans service round the clock, every day of the year providing support for anyone struggling to cope. Assisted by a small staff team, volunteers manage over 100,000 calls a year, 4,500 face-to-face visits at the branch and respond to over 10,000 and text contacts. CLS is active in the local community, providing emotional support for London s homeless at weekly food drops, running peer-to-peer listener programmes at Brixton and Holloway prisons and delivering talks to schools and workplaces. We are also part of the national partnerships with Network Rail, London Underground and Cruse providing training and support around suicide and suicide prevention. Samaritans volunteers are also available to respond at short notice to offer emotional support following any form of crisis or emergency in London. The total income for 2015 for CLS is likely to be in the region of 480, ,000 of which is from Community & Events Fundraising, rising to 120,000 by This involves initiatives including fun runs, local fundraising events, choral fundraisers, Christmas campaigns and large scale organisation-wide fundraising events. 2 About the Role You will work closely with the Fundraising Manager, volunteer lead for Community Fundraising and volunteers to generate income via community fundraising initiatives and volunteer contacts. You will provide excellent supporter care across a wide range of community fundraising activities and engage volunteers to raise funds via their networks. Main responsibilities: Community Fundraising Programme Assist with research into and develop new Community Fundraising activities and campaigns Develop and grow fundraising activities and income generated through Community Fundraising to achieve annual income targets Recruit and support new community fundraisers with advice, encouragement and fundraising materials, maximizing their fundraising potential Provide a point of contact for potential volunteer fundraisers at CLS and manage the fundraising volunteer journey Develop and maintain relationships with supporters including high value individual community fundraisers and groups, associations and educational establishments Friends Scheme Lead on the Friends of CLS initiative to create a self-sustaining team to grow income in this area Administer and maintain the database of Friends in line with Data Protection Develop relationships with existing Friends and ensure that opportunities for increasing their engagement are identified and shared with relevant colleagues Communicate with the Friends regularly to ensure they are engaged with and aware of CLS activities Develop creative ways to increase membership of the Friends scheme Events Management Work closely with the Fundraising Manager to create bespoke organisation-wide cultivation and engagement events within allocated budgets, liaising with the National Samaritans Events Teams where appropriate Work closely with the Volunteer Lead for Community Fundraising to organise and deliver an annual programme of Community Fundraising events ensuring compliance with health and safety, insurance and legal requirements Work closely with lead volunteers to host events for Friends Contact & Communications Bring communications to life ensuring a consistent approach to encourage supporter engagement Ensure key updates are shared with the wider volunteer network as required Maintain high standards of customer care Develop good working relationships with key suppliers Keep the CLS events web area up-to-date and maintain the Twitter feed Page 2 of 5

3 Monitoring & Evaluation Assist the team in producing KPIs for project development and monitoring and evaluation Produce statistical reports and financial analyses necessary for decision-making Administration Ensure high standards of customer care post-event by ensuring accurate and timely thanks for all donations and participation Maintain records of statistical information to support feedback to stakeholders as required Keep up-to-date with Sector news and events and reporting these to the Fundraising Manager and Volunteer lead for Community Fundraising The summary of responsibilities is neither exclusive nor exhaustive and responsibilities may vary from time-to-time in the light of changing circumstances and in conjunction with the post-holder. Hours of work The basic hours are 35 hours per week spread over 5 working days. Within these hours there may be need to work some evenings and weekend days, so flexibility is essential. The core responsibilities should be carried out during weekdays. The amount of out-of-hours work will be agreed on an on-going basis. Time off in lieu (TOIL) will be allowed in agreement with the Head of Branch Operations and in line with the current European Working Time Directive. Limitations The post-holder will be required to work within the rules and regulations of Samaritans and accept the authority of the Director and the Chair of Central London Samaritans Board of Trustees, who have discretion to delegate authority to the post-holder and to withdraw it.
