Each adult in our school district is a professional educator: a leader, collaborator, curriculum specialist, mentor, role model, classroom supporter, facilitator, and resource provider. This information is to help you learn about some of the district office services we provide. 2 CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION The curriculum and instruction department supports staff to maximize student growth and learning. Professional development opportunities offered through the C&I department can be found on our calendar at New teachers are supported with four, 2-hour New Teacher Evening Seminars specifically designed for new teachers to our district will highlight specialized topics. One additional professional compensatory leave day will be granted to probationary teachers new to the district after attending all four of the required New Teacher Evening Seminars by the district. TECHNOLOGY Your account is set up for school use. Your is your first name.last name and our domain (first name.last Your password is your last name and the last four digits of your social security number. The district uses as an important communication tool. You will be expected to check your frequently so you keep up-to-date on pertinent information. Helpdesk: The technology helpdesk can be reached by phone at , or via at The helpdesk is designed to assist you with any of your technology support needs. If you have ANY questions about technology in your classroom, please contact the helpdesk.

3 BUSINESS SERVICES Health Benefits: If you are eligible for benefits, you received information via district . The Oregon Educator Benefits Board (OEBB) administers benefits for Hood River District employees. For more detailed information, visit the business service website at: If you are hired during Open Enrollment (before September 4 th ) you will enroll in your benefits on the MyOEBB site: If you are hired after September 4 th, please contact Gretchen Winans in the business office to help you with benefits. Paychecks: The salary paycheck will be issued on the 20 th day of each month or the last working day of the month, whichever occurs first, and is paid in twelve equal installments. Payments are automatically deposited into your account. Paycheck stubs are electronic. You may view all current and past pay stubs by going to the Employee Access Center. Enter your Hood River County School District employee identification number as the User Name and the Password is the same as your district password. Employee Identification Number: Every staff Hood River County School District employee has a unique number. Your employee number is provided to you upon the completion of the hiring process. Should you forget your number, please ask your building administrator or secretary to provide you with that information.

You will find out about many options such as: Employee Assistance Program Flexible Spending Account Group Long-Term Disability Insurance 403(b) Plans or Tax Sheltered Annuity (TSA) 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan HUMAN RESOURCES Employee Handbook: The employee handbook is designed as a guide to provide general information about the school district, common procedures, and how we work together to meet students needs. Please review and refer to the handbook to learn more about Hood River County School District. Staff Absences: What happens when you are unable to come to work? The first step is to contact your supervisor or building administrator. All leave is recorded in an automated substitute finder, AESOP. Substitutes are called via this system so absences need to be communicated in a timely manner, giving the system sufficient time to secure a substitute when needed. You should have received an with your user name and password along with instructions on how to access AESOP. You can log on to the system to check your leave balances, leave history, and configure settings to enter preferred substitutes. If you do not know how to access AESOP, please contact the human resources office at human.resources@hoodriver.k12.or.us or Employee Contracts/Agreements: In addition to the Employee Handbook, the employee contracts provide information about Hood River County School District s policies and practices. Please read your contract and refer to it for questions that you might have about your employment. Website: The Hood River County School District website: is an important resource. The website has section with all of our board policies, another tool to guide your work as a district employee. In addition to information about the services that the district provides, each school site has its own page. This is a great way to find out more about your new school as well as the others in the district.
