1 Sheboygan Area - SHRM Letter from the President This time of year finds many of us trying to remember that old saying regarding something about Falling Ahead or Springing Behind. Or now that I think of it, it s Spring Forward, Fall Back! Well hopefully you have all adjusted to the annual movement out of Daylight Savings Time by the time you read this newsletter. Regardless of the time, I can assure you that Sheboygan Area SHRM is not falling back we are moving FORWARD this fall with a variety of changes and exciting programs. As many of you may recall, we have changed our bylaws to reflect a new fiscal year. We are joining both the National SHRM and the WI SHRM organizations and the vast majority of local chapters in their fiscal years. The majority of our local members voted in the affirmative for this change Thank You! As for the programs, we have started the year off with two wonderful programs. Victor Schuller helped us to better understand our Reptile Brains and the fact that evolution hasn t necessarily meant that we don t on occasion use our more Neanderthal reactions towards others. And then in October, Julie Kowalski addressed the issues surrounding Accountability and how we sometimes need to hold individuals accountable, even when they don t report to us In future months, we have Nancy Conway from SHRM, State Senator Joe Liebham, a presentation on Social Media and the Law, etc. Great topics and presenters that are timely, relevant, and a value for all of our members. Speaking of value, we are working on a way for us to get our programs out to more members this next year. We have made a decision to have more consistency in our programs namely, we will conduct our programs at breakfast time each month and those meetings will be help at either Blackwolf Run OR the Inn on Woodlake. Now for some members, that makes it more difficult to attend the meetings here is where the change comes. We are investigating the potential for SA SHRM to video tape the programs and then deliver them to our members via a YouTube channel or other media we will continue to think of ways to make your membership in this great local chapter more useful and valuable. I look forward to seeing you at a meeting someday soon! Doug Inside this issue: Introduction of the Board of Directors. Committee Summary Upcoming events and programs Picture page
