Reports To Director, Prevention of Violence against Women Direct Reports This role has no current direct reports but may in the future Award and Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award 2010 Agreement DVRCV Enterprise Bargaining Agreement 2005 Classification SCHCADS Level 7 CONTEXT Organisational Domestic Violence Resource Centre Victoria (DVRCV) aims to prevent violence in Context intimate and family relationships and promote non-violent and respectful behaviour. Domestic Violence Resource Centre Victoria works to achieve this aim through strategies which: Improve the quality of services to those who experience violence Inform and support those affected by this violence Inform public policy and research Raise community awareness and promote community responsibility for violence prevention The Domestic Violence Resource Centre Victoria receives core funding from the Victorian Department of Human Services with additional funding from a variety of government and philanthropic organisations. Role Context DVRCV is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and provides training for domestic/family violence units of competency from the Community Services Training package as well as non-accredited training programs to meet workforce development needs across the state. The Senior Advisor and Trainer, PVAW will support the expansion and development of DVRCV s newly established PVAW team, taking a leadership role in the design and implementation of workforce development and capacity building activities. This role will be responsible for: The development, delivery, quality improvement and evaluation of training in the PVAW portfolio The provision of policy and content advice relating to primary prevention and PVAW workforce development activities Manage multiple PVAW projects, contracts and relevant stakeholders As DVRCV s prevention capacity continues to grow, the role will be responsible for direct supervision and support for a number of DVRCV trainers and sessional trainers who hold the prevention portfolio The role will report to and support the Director, PVAW to manage and grow DVRCV s PVAW training and capacity building activities.

2 Page 2 Strategy and Leadership Policy and Advocacy Income Generation Stakeholder Contract and Project Staff KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Contribute to the leadership and strategic direction of the PVAW team and ensure that the PVAW activities are aligned to DVRCV s strategic plan Oversee the development of a suite of prevention training packages Provide strategic advice to the Director, PVAW on industry planning and workforce development activities in Victoria Support the Director, PVAW to build the profile of DVRCV as a credible and expert organisation Monitor state and national trends in prevention policy, practice and research (including progress of the Family Violence Royal Commission recommendations) to inform DVRCV s training in the PVAW space Keep abreast of emerging trends in the primary prevention of violence against women and the family violence sectors, including regular reviews of academic literature so that these can inform training content to ensure it remains up to date Support the advocacy, policy, content and resourcing activities of the Director, PVAW as requested Provide advice on prevention programs, practice and policy to the Director, PVAW as requested Support the income generation activities led by the Director, PVAW Develop and manage budgets for fee for service requests for training within area of portfolio responsibility Lead the development of respectful, positive and strategic stakeholder relationships with agencies undertaking prevention workforce development Represent the Director, PVAW at external meetings, forums, events relating to workforce development as required Provide professional consultation on PVAW training development and materials in related fields Manage PVAW projects and contracts as requested by the Director, PVAW Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget Supervise other PVAW trainers including coaching, workload management, day to day support, expense management Manage PVAW sessional trainers including training allocation, workload

3 Page 3 Operational Financial Risk and Compliance management, support and debriefing, performance development/management and recruitment Be responsible for the orientation and induction for any new team members Lead the design of professional development and accredited prevention training Oversee the delivery and evaluation of all PVAW training to participants from a wide range of backgrounds and organisations across Victoria as a sole trainer or in a co-facilitation role Ensure that PVAW training is aligned to Change the Story, the National Framework to Prevent Violence against Women and their Children and the prevention capabilities framework Develop a range of PVAW written content (online and hard copy) for a range of audiences Manage DVRCV s prevention fee for services activities in consultation with the Training Administration Team Review participant evaluation forms and incorporate student feedback into training materials Inform the development of a quality assurance framework and process, led by the Director PVAW Conduct training needs analysis to identify training requirements Work with the Training Administration Team to ensure systems and processes are set up to support PVAW training Manage individual project budgets and ensure regular reports to the Director, PVAW Ensure that all costs incurred by the team are approved and submitted to Finance in a timely manner Monitor risks around PVAW training activity and regularly report to the Director, PVAW on these risks and mitigation strategies Work with the Director, PVAW to ensure all prevention training programs comply with the Australian Quality Training Framework to maintain DVRCV s Registered Training Organisation (RTO) status Undertake professional development activities to maintain compliance with the Australian Quality Training Framework (AQTF) Report annually to the Director, PVAW on professional development undertaken by the team

4 Page 4 Organisational Expectations (same for all staff) Qualifications Experience Skills Work within an evidence based feminist framework that addresses all violence against women (including family violence) as a gendered issue Adhere to DVRCV s values in your internal activity and when representing the organisation Participate in and contribute to staff meetings/events/celebrations Identify own professional development needs and share new knowledge Support the development of new resources, policies and practice Assist the Front Desk as required by providing information and referral options to survivors of violence in an empathic and sensitive manner Adhere to all policies in the DVRCV Policy Manual Undertake other duties as required KEY SELECTION CRITERIA Health Promotion/Public Health, Women s/gender Studies or other relevant tertiary qualification or 5 years experience in the prevention sector Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desired) or ability to undertake Certificate IV in Training and Assessment within the first 6 months of employment Sound understanding of the Change the Story, Australia s National Framework to Prevent Violence against Women and their Children Demonstrated experience in state/federal government policy including advocacy Knowledge of AQTF requirements through experience in or with a Registered Training Organisation Significant expertise in the development, delivery and evaluation of training for adult learners Demonstrated project management expertise Demonstrated experience in undertaking settings or area based prevention practice Detailed knowledge of the prevention of violence against women sector Sound computer literacy and proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Effective time management and organisational skills High level written and verbal communication skills Public speaking skills Work Health and Safety ADDITIONAL INFORMATION All employees are required to carry out their duties in a manner that does not adversely affect their own health and safety and that of others by reporting all incidents and injuries as well as cooperating with any measures introduced in the workplace to improve work health and safety.
