Responsible to: Appropriate Supervisor, Assistant Managers, Property Supervisors, Assigned Plumber(s) 2. Supervisory Responsibility : None 3. Important internal relationships: Management Team Members, Elected Members, Board Members, Area Services and other Service Managers and staff within Wolverhampton Homes, Strategic Construction Partnership and Wolverhampton City Council. 4. Important external relationships: Trade Unions, Tenant Management Organisations, Tenant and Resident Associations, Special Interest Group Members, Estate Management Boards, External Agents, Partners, Contractors and Suppliers. Local Authorities and ALMO Associations.

2 Primary Functions To gain experience, knowledge and skills to a recognised standard throughout the apprenticeship. To develop the skills, knowledge and experience to support the team to undertake repairs, maintenance and adaptations in plumbing. To support the team in achieving performance and customer satisfaction targets. To accompany designated qualified plumbers to jobs, follow instructions and learn processes applicable to the trade. To attend the nominated college/provider to undertake and gain a relevant recognised qualification. To be responsible for ensuring that the individual portfolio is completed to the required standard. To work on a range of projects with both Wolverhampton Homes and their partners within the city. Main Activities 1. Section Management and Service Planning To be an active team member and support the successful delivery of the service aim and objectives undertaken as part Wolverhampton Homes business / service plan. To be part of a team delivering a high-profile Repairs, Commercial, Maintenance and Adaptation service. To assist in working effectively with Members and Tenants and implement the aims and objectives of Wolverhampton Homes To work with all staff and stakeholders to achieve best possible results for the section. To assist in providing performance information to support monitoring individual performance in terms of quality, productivity and output of staff, contractors and partners especially in terms of value for money and standards. To contribute in target setting and ensure high levels of performance against agreed Performance Indicators and medium term financial forecasts. Attend Tenants and Residents meetings or school events if/when required to do so, such meetings usually falling outside of standard working hours.

3 To work effectively with Members and Tenants and implement the aims and objectives of Wolverhampton Homes Be aware of and understand the personal implications of Wolverhampton Homes Mission, Vision and Values. To assist in promoting best practice Response and Maintenance or Voids and Lettings policies and procedures throughout Wolverhampton Homes, promoting Performance Management at all levels within the organisation. 2. Operational Service Assist in undertaking fast response to all types of repair and maintenance work within a repairs or voids environment. To assist in completing the repair in one visit or within the voids and lettings/commercial agreed timescales. To liaise with all customers and stake holders with a view to encourage local residents or service users to take a greater interest in their environment. Ensure that all work undertaken is of the highest quality. Undertake all work in accordance with applicable legislation and Wolverhampton Homes policies and procedures. Be aware of all performance indicators and performance levels required of the role. Ensure rubbish is removed from site or suitable arrangements are made for its collection. Ensure that all communication equipment (PDA, mobile phone etc) supplied is used in accordance with both manufacturer's instructions and Wolverhampton Homes policies & procedures. Work in a clean and safe manner, ensuring safety awareness to yourself, colleagues and public at all time. Provide and maintain personal tools and any tools supplied by Wolverhampton Homes Ensure Wolverhampton Homes uniform & appropriate supplied PPE is worn at all times. To develop the skills, knowledge and experience to provide an excellent customer service.

4 Display a positive, flexible and proactive, can do attitude to delivering an excellent service to our customers leaving them with a positive image of Wolverhampton Homes. To maintain attendance at college/training provider and contribute fully. 3. Contracts To develop an awareness of contracts and service level agreements with internal and external organisations. 4. Financial Management Following guidance develop an awareness of the companies Constitution and Financial Regulations. Work towards reaching agreed levels of income, productivity and performance in line with Local and Key Performance Indicators to achieve optimum service levels. Through training, develop an understanding of working in the most cost effective manner available, making sure all variations and material costs are loaded accurately and the job is completed correctly. Ensure all surplus materials are returned to supplier and waste is minimised. 5. Staff Management To support colleagues in the undertaking their duties Attend and take a positive role in the regular performance reviews and Individual Appraisal meetings and training as required. Show a positive attitude to all training identified as necessary to the job role or to enhance personal development and service delivery. Show an attitude that embraces learning. Attend & participate in Team Meetings, Tool box Talks and one to one meetings. 6. Other duties To participate in Individual Appraisal meetings and training as required. 5 To undertake any appropriate training, health & safety related duties such as First Aider, Fire Marshall, Duty Holder, Risk Assessments Health & Safety Representative etc. To participate in the exit and leaver process as required. 7. General The duties of the post may change and develop from time to time in light of new legislation, Wolverhampton Homes Policies, organisational developments and social trends. Such developments will be monitored in conjunction with the Chief Executive and Director of Corporate Services and will be reflected as necessary in the aims and objectives of the post. Whilst every effort has been made to explain the main duties and responsibilities of the post, each individual task undertaken may not be identified. Employees will be expected to comply with any reasonable request from a manager to undertake work of a similar level that is not specified in this job description.

6 Personnel Specification Job Title: Plumbing Apprentice Grade: ILMWP FACTORS ESSENTIAL DESIRABLE HOW IDENTIFIED Education Standard GCSE Grade C or above in Maths and English or equivalent. Level 1 BTEC in Construction Tests Training Willingness to undertake training and study for qualifications appropriate to an apprenticeship role. Experience Evidence of successfully working within a team. Work experience either paid or unpaid in a construction environment. Work experience within a customer focussed sector. Special Knowledge / Skills Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing Ability to understand and follow instructions, both written & verbal Knowledge of tools and fittings associated to a plumber.
