Working with us

Who We Are t Abou us We are a Times Top 100 company, offering desirable, affordable homes for rent and sale, to people with different needs, lifestyles and accommodation preferences. We provide specialist services to older people and to those who require adapted homes, providing support to help them manage their tenancy. Where We Work Our exciting new offices are part of the Urban Village development in Swansea city centre. Open-plan and airy, they are a great place to work, with all our teams situated on the same floor. Amongst the desks and plants, you ll see all manner of wildlife. Look out for birds, monkeys, sheep and chickens. This quirky atmosphere makes our office environment a bit different. There s even an onsite café, Mosaic, and we also have new premises at our satellite office in Neath. Communication Promoting Ability If your circumstances are such that it makes it difficult for you to manage your job, we will review your working arrangements, to see what adaptations we can make to help you. In addition we offer generous company sick pay along with a range of support services from occupational health to cognitive behavioural therapy. If you are absent from work for a longer period of time, we will ensure your transition back to work is as smooth as possible. Good communication is one of the keys to our success. We hold regular team meetings and also have staff away days held offsite. All forms of communication, formal or informal, are encouraged, promoted and facilitated. Some of the best ideas can be the result of a chat in the kitchen. We have an open, honest and transparent approach to communication which is from the bottom up as well as from the top down. We also organise working parties, to address specific issues on Coastal s agenda.

Phone us: (HR Team) Growing & Learning You, You, You! At Coastal, we are committed to your personal development. We will encourage and enable you to enhance your skills and nurture new ones. You can hone your skills via learning and development and we will work together with you to formulate learning opportunities that will best suit you and your ambitions. In the Beginning From the outset, you ll take part in a comprehensive induction, part of which is tailored to your individual job role. You ll be shown the ropes and we ll have regular updates and meetings to see how you re settling in. Your induction will allow you to see the bigger picture at Coastal and you ll spend time with colleagues doing other jobs within the organisation. This will give you an overview of how the Coastal team collectively provides such a great service to our customers. Evening Classes For night owls among you, if you find that attending a night class is beneficial to your role, we may be able to arrange for your fees to be paid. In the last few years we have sponsored our employees to undertake courses including plumbing, sign language, ECDL and counselling. Learning Welsh Siarad Cymraeg? If you d like to learn, then good news. We provide free Welsh lessons and discussion groups in our offices, which are attended by everyone from beginners to improvers and experts. You can choose to attend college or university part-time, or opt for distance learning to study in your own time, at your own pace, for example at the Chartered Institute of Housing. We will also pay for one professional subscription related to your role. Something for Everyone We see training opportunities in all sorts of activities, from traditional training and e-learning, to distance learning, participation in focus or work groups, and other projects to help continuous improvement and understanding of how work works. Involvement in secondments and research projects, as well as networking at conferences is encouraged, as is active participation in team meetings, sharing ideas and learning new things.

Flexible Hours Whether you are full-time or part-time, we have a flexible approach to the hours you work. We understand that getting the balance right between work and home-life is important. Full-time hours are normally 35 hours a week, dependant on your role, although you can choose to work a four-day week or a nine-day fortnight along with other various work patterns, subject to the requirements of the business. For even more flexibility, you can build up your flexi-hours and take the time off when you need to. We also understand that personal circumstances change, so we ll do our best to accommodate any changes you require to your work patterns to suit you best. Balance Holiday Essentials As soon as you join us, we give you 25 days holiday a year, which will increase by a day each year, up to a maximum of 30 days. With eight Bank Holidays, and an extra two days in December, you ll receive a full seven eight holiday weeks a year. If you are part-time, your holidays are calculated on a pro-rata basis. You can plan ahead to take extended periods of annual leave as one long holiday, by saving some holiday entitlement over a couple of years. We ve had employees taking up to eight weeks leave in one go, to travel to places such as Australia, India, New Zealand and Asia. Long Service Awards We must be a likeable bunch, as many of our employees have stayed with us for many years. Some have left and then returned, while others arrived as temporary staff and are still here! Coastal understand that the skills, experience and knowledge of our employees is priceless, and is called upon daily to offer stability to our clients and business. In recognition of this, we offer Long Service Awards, which entitles you to one week s extra holiday when you ve been with us 10 years and every five years thereafter. You can use it to plan longer breaks, or even exchange the award for a cash equivalent. Take a Break We don t want you to become stale in your job, and recognise that seeking new horizons is vital for continued enthusiasm at work. We offer career breaks, which are basically periods of unpaid leave. Some people have taken us up on this offer to pursue personal ambitions. Family Friendly We recognise the importance of family and want to support new parents in balancing their work and home lives. Not only do we offer enhanced maternity and paternity pay, but we will give you paid time off for antenatal classes and offer unpaid parental leave (subject to qualifying conditions). We also appreciate that from time-to-time you will need to balance your caring and working commitments. If you have any unexpected emergencies and need to take time off to look after a dependant we will support you by ensuring you have the time off you need.

We have subsidised the office football team and badminton group and have recently seen teams taking up a golf challenge. Fund Raising The Coastal team regularly takes part in fund raising events, building up our own charitable fund. From raffles, 100 Club and Easter Bonnet parades to other national fundraising events. Employees have been known to abseil down buildings, tackle mountains (or at least hills) and clamber over wet and slippery inflatables, all in the name of a good cause. As a result, over the last few years we have been proud to make donations to Llys Nini Animal Shelter, Wales Air Ambulance, Singleton Hospital s, Macmillan Nurses and the Breathe Easy Foundation. Stability Permanent Health Insurance We provide free health insurance cover for all our permanent employees. The purpose of this insurance is to provide replacement income for you if you are unable to work, due to a long-term illness or injury. This is currently 50% of your normal salary, though some exclusions do apply. Planning for the Future Our popular Final Salary Pension scheme is another of the worthwhile benefits you will receive when working for Coastal. Payments depend on your age and we will pay a generous contribution on top. This pension scheme is among the best on offer because it is worked out as a percentage of your average salary for the final three years before your retirement. Alternatively, we also offer a Defined Contribution Scheme, which we will still contribute to.
