2 Main purpose and scope of the role: To assist the Head of Finance with protecting the assets of Age Concern Hampshire and Age Concern Hampshire Trading Ltd by maintaining complete and reliable records to prescribed standards and in line with established procedures. To record all income, expenditure and liabilities and assist with preparing management and financial reports that provide meaningful information and support effective management decision making and inform business strategy. Relay information from the accounting department to the management team, budget holders and other internal and external stakeholders. Reports to: Head of Finance Duties and key responsibilities Financial information and monitoring Processing all financial transactions relating to the Sales and Purchase ledgers for the Charity and Trading Subsidiary into Sage. Reconciling debtors and creditors ledgers and following up on open items. Processing bank transactions, petty cash and transfers and regularly reconciling all bank and cash accounts. Providing help and advice to budget holders on all finance & accounting related matters. Assisting with timely production and distribution of monthly management reports to budget holders. Assisting with preparing financial reports and information for the Senior Management Team, Governing Committee Members and other relevant stakeholders as required. Assisting with monitoring income and expenditure activity across the business divisions by periodic checks on the nominal ledgers. Accounting for shared services Assisting with accounting for income and expenditure in relation to shared services between Age Concern Hampshire and Trading. Accurately processing the information received and reconciling the transactions including the inter-company ledgers. Ensuring that payments for shared services are made correctly and in time. Assisting budget holders in preparing budgets for and monitoring shared services. Financial Planning & Budgeting Assisting in the annual planning and budgeting process including preparing budgets and forecasts. Provide financial information to the Head of Finance and Senior Management Team from time to time.

3 Related Duties Assisting with the maintenance and development of financial systems to improve record keeping and reporting. Reconciling account and general ledgers, journals and corrections. Assisting with internal and external audit exercises. Supporting the efficiency of the department by providing cover for co-workers in the Finance and Accounting Department. Keeping abreast of new developments in accounting and financial reporting. General responsibilities Manage own administration, filing and time effectively to ensure targets are met. Identify and undertake training and development activities as required. Maintain records on vehicle administration and utilities identifying areas needing action. Criteria Essential Desirabl e Qualifications & Training Minimum of 1 year experience working with both Sales and Purchase ledgers including reconciliation Qualifications & Training Skills & abilities Formal book-keeping qualification AAT or equivalent or student of professional accountancy body Experienced user of Sage 50 or similar software Competent IT skills using excel & word Knowledge Can demonstrate analytical skills with excellent attention to accuracy and detail and a methodical approach supported by good communication skills.it skills Good Knowledge of accounting terms and concepts Awareness of financial regulations and legislation and Charities SORPS. Other requirements Values Ability to show initiative and recommend improvements to finance and administration systems and procedures Works well as part of a team Ability to cope and prioritise a demanding workload.
