2 Position Description & Application Package Position: Program Assistant PositionAdvertisement NASCA is an innovative Aboriginal not-for-profit experiencing a period of growth. We are currently seeking a Program Assistant to join our team in Dubbo. The Program Assistant will assist with the organisation and engagement of Indigenous young people through a range of recreation, support and development programs. The successful candidate will need to be enthusiastic, engaging and energetic who inspires the confidence of young people, community members and other professionals. The Program Assistant will work across all NASCA programs, including the unique opportunity to work in remote Aboriginal communities in the Northern Territory. Applicants must address the selection criteria to be considered for this position. A tertiary qualification in Education, Community Development/Management, Social Sciences or similar field, is desirable. Drivers Licence and First Aid Certification is Essential. Location: Dubbo (Narromine and Wellington) Salary: 35,000-45,000 per annum pro-rata fixed contract, dependent on experience and qualifications + 9.5% superannuation + 15,899 not-for-profit salary benefits. 3 Key Responsibilities & Attributes of Program Assistant Implementing and leading engagement workshops in sport, creative arts, leadership and goal setting. Mentoring and tutoring young people in class and after school. Preparing reports, collating data and conducting evaluations based on program performance and student achievement. Working to increase school attendance, student engagement and improving attitudes to schooling. Increasing retention to Year 12 or its vocational equivalent. Fostering cultural pride & individual resilience in program participants. A depth of knowledge about the causes and consequences of Indigenous youth disengagement and strategies that successfully assist young people to stay at school and to gain employment. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills to liaise and build relationships with a broad range of people at all levels and from diverse backgrounds. Strong organisational and time-management skills, and an ability to prioritise and meet deadlines. Highly-developed administration and computer skills and competency in Microsoft Programs. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as an effective team member to achieve goals. Experience in learning and community development, in particular for young people.
