4 Employee Training Banner Budget, Requisition, and Finance Training The workshop introduces a module of the Banner administrative software that allows authorized users to query budget status in order to request budget transfers between budgets for which the user has authority. This class provides a reviewer financial query forms useful for viewing account balances and financial transactions, tracking purchasing activity for a department, locating vendor addresses and phone numbers, and review the department's budget reports. Contact: Director of Purchasing, Ext Department Providing Training: Controller's Office Banner Scheduling Training This workshop is designed for new faculty or staff who will be required to enter their department's course schedule. Access is not granted for course scheduling until this workshop has been completed. In order to receive access to the Banner Student module, this training is required. 5 CPR/AED Training The course provides hands-on instruction on how to recognize when a person has gone into cardiac arrest and how to provide effective Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) as well as to use the many Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) located across campus. Individual diversity topics to be scheduled and announced. Contact: Director of Employee Relations and Workforce Development at Ext Dates and Times: To be announced ESS - Employee Self Service Training Employee self-service (ESS) training provides instruction for employees on the process of completing leave reports and how to navigate in BraveWeb to update and maintain personal information. Facilities Reservation System (FRS) Training The Facilities Reservation System (FRS) is used by internal and external groups to view and/or request room reservations for meetings and/or events held on the UNCP campus. The training provides instructions on the proper usage of the system. 6 FERPA (Federal Family Educational Right and Privacy Act) Training The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education. This training addresses FERPA and guidelines for employees on appropriate release of student information. Contact: Registrar, Ext. 6301; Backup Assistant Registrar, Ext Department Providing Training: Registrar's Office Financial Planning Various topics coordinated through the Office of Human Resources with external community partners to assist employees with financial planning and management. Fire Extinguisher Training In this training, each employee will receive classroom and hands-on training on how to properly use a fire extinguisher. Topics covered include the classes of fire, classes of fire extinguisher, when and when not to use an extinguisher, and what to do in case of a fire in your building. For The Fred Factor (Customer Service) Customer Service focused training about a postal worker that performs his job superbly. Fred goes above and beyond his daily job duties to make sure that the customers he is serving are very happy with his service. 7 Golf Cart Safety Training This course familiarizes employees and student workers with the safe operation of motorized carts on campus. Discussion involves personal liability, safe operation, safety features, and cart limitations. There is written exam as well as a hands-on driving portion of the class. Department supervisors are responsible for ensuring that all cart operators (including temporary workers) have completed the class prior to operation. Contact: safety@uncp.edu Safety Officer, Ext Department Providing Training: Environmental Health and Safety Location: Business Services Conference Room Dates and Times: Second Thursday of Each Month at 9:00-11:00 The History of UNC Pembroke Founded in 1887 to train American Indian teachers, the University of North Carolina at Pembroke today serves a diverse student body of more than 6,400 students. The presentation discusses the origins, luminaries, and the transformation of the institution. Contact: SAIS Program Coordinator, Ext Department Providing Training: Southeast American Indian Studies Program New Employee Safety Orientation This course includes subjects that affect all university employees. Topics covered include General Safety, Office Ergonomics, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Fire Safety, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Hazard Communication (HAZCOM). Contact: safety@uncp.edu Safety Officer at Ext Department Providing Training: Environmental Health and Safety Availability: Third Thursday of the Month, 8:30-12:30 Location: HR Training Room, Lumbee Hall, room Onboarding The program begins the 12 month Onboarding process for new employees with an extensive two day introduction to the University, its culture, values, and mission. The two day sessions introduce the new employee to important campus partners to ensure a great start. 8 Sustainability A series of informative workshops provided by the UNCP Office of Sustainability on current university sustainability initiatives. Contact: Office of Sustainability, Ext Department Providing Training: Office of Sustainability Travel Policies and Procedures Training provides review of the process to complete the travel request/authorization form and the travel reimbursement form. Also provided is an overview of the various travel webpages and policies/regulations set forth by the State of North Carolina. Workplace Wellness Objectives: Various monthly health and wellness topics and activities coordinated through the Office of Human Resources and Athletics. Contact: OHR Benefits at Ext Dates and Times: To be announced Workers' Compensation for Employees This workshop describes the responsibility of the employee in documenting and reporting an accident at work. Details about the referral for medical attention, completion of the accident form, notification of Human Resources, employee pay status, follow-up is also covered. Contact: HR Consultant at Ext

9 Annual Compliance Training Preventing Workplace Harassment Workplace harassment is defined. This training is consistent with the University Policy POL Unlawful Workplace Harassment Prevention. Procedures for reporting workplace harassment are detailed. Contact: Director of ER and Workforce Development at Ext. 6279; backup HR Consultant at Ext Dates and Times: As announced Title IX and the Clery Act Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, as amended, prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally funded education program or activity. The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act was signed into law in 1990 and requires the university (since we participate in federal student aid programs) to publically disclose campus safety information. This training provides an overview of Title IX and the Clery Act. All employees are required to receive annual training as mandated by University policy. 10 Mandatory Supervisory Training Career Banded Compensation The workshop reviews compensation policy, pay factors, internal equity and the practical application of setting salaries in the Career Banding compensation system. Trainer/Facilitator: Classification and Compensation Manager at Ext Dates and Times: To be announced Managing the Disciplinary Process/Supervisors The Workshop includes policy review and specific procedures for managing the disciplinary process for SHRA employees. Trainer/Facilitator: HR Consultant at Ext The Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity Fundamentals (EEODF formerly EEOI) The Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity Fundamentals (EEODF) addresses EEO law compliance and issues of workplace diversity in State government. The training focuses on developing awareness and building skills that can be used on the job. Note: It is required for all North Carolina State government managers and supervisors who have been hired, promoted, or appointed since July 1, (Managers and supervisors hired, promoted, or appointed before this date are encouraged to attend.)" 11 Employee Self Service (ESS) Supervisor Training Training reviews the Employee Self Service System and teaches Supervisors how to view, approve and manage employees' leave reports and timesheet submissions. Contact: HR Specialist for Time and Leave at Ext Dates and Times: Monthly, as announced. Understanding the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Training educates managers on the Fair Labor Standards Act. Covered topics include: 1) requirements for Exempt/Non-Exempt positions, 2) Salary thresholds, 3) Overtime considerations for employees, and 4) the impact of potential new rule making. Contact: HR Consultant at Ext Interview Panels and Search Committees Training includes the review of Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action guidelines and best practices. Also covered are the duties of Interview Panels and Search Committees in relation to conducting interviews and consistent application of the UNC Pembroke hiring process. Contact: HR Consultant at Ext Dates and Times: Required for all Search Committees Navigating the Online Employment System (OES) The training focuses on an overview of the PeopleAdmin Applicant Tracking System and Position Management Modules used by UNC Pembroke for recruitment and position management purposes. Hiring Managers learn how to create or modify positions in the position management module and advance them in the workflow either for reclassification or for posting. Contact: HR Consultant at Ext

12 Effective Performance Management for Supervisors Training instructs on the proper methods for evaluating employee annual performance. Supervisors will learn how to establish and manage SHRA employee performance plans and the SHRA evaluation process. Contact: HR Consultant at Ext Workers' Compensation Management for Supervisors This workshop describes the responsibility of the supervisor in documenting and reporting an accident at work. Details about the referral for medical attention, completion of the accident form, notification of Human Resources, employee pay status, follow-up is also covered. Topics covered include: 1) The Onboarding Process, and 2) Supervisor Checklist responsibilities throughout the process. 13 Additional Supervisory Training Coaching Employees for Superior Performance The workshop focuses on assisting Supervisors to: 1) Recognize the benefits of coaching, 2) Identify the role of the coach, 3) understand the techniques involved in successful coaching, and 4) Use coaching effectively to improve employee performance. Contact: Director of Employee Relations and Workforce Development at Ext Managing Conflict in the Workplace Upon completion of the workshop, supervisors will be able to: 1) Recognize the impact of workplace conflict 2) Identify common causes of conflict, 3) Understand how positive communication helps prevent conflict, 4) Resolve conflicts successfully, and 5) Build consensus among employees. Contact: Director of Employee Relations and Workforce Development at Ext The Servant Leader Geared towards Department leaders, the workshop is intended to make leaders aware and practice service to the people that report to them. The training is based on the concept of the upside down triangle where the leader reports to the team. Strategies covered are ways to train employees for positions of greater responsibility, taking accountability for your team s short comings, and offering strategies to improve performance. Learn key words that adequately describe the level of the position. Also learn the proper format for the position you are describing. 15 Additional Workshops-Organizational Development Building Teams Team oriented session where the group discusses areas for improvement and identifies individual contributions to resolve issues. The primary objective is for teams to collectively understand team dynamics and to set goals to be achieved through a collective effort.
