2 4. MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING: The minutes of the previous meeting held on Friday 17 March 2017, having been circulated were taken as read and confirmed as a true and correct record. Moved/Carried Don Wilson/Glenn Carroll 5. MATTERS ARISING: Affco Horotiu Noted at last meeting Affco had erected a gantry to ease access to livestock in stock crates. Improvements have been made since then. Chair to send letter of support for their initiative. RTF to be asked for an article Woodville effluent dump site Kate to circulate information to group members for dissemination amongst their organisations/members. The conversation traversed cost recovery for handling effluent. Memo to be drafted to membership. July Trucking Brief image showing single ramp for loading. 3 7. FINANCIAL UPDATE Finances read. An anonymous sponsor has donated $1,500 to the group. 8. OSPRI UPDATE No Ospri representation to provide update. 9. ANIMAL WELFARE PHONE APP Welfare App. Being updated regularly and feedback to MPI welcome. Livestock standing is one item that is worth adding. Chance for MPI rep to be available at RTF conference to talk to the App 10. MPI COMPLIANCE REPORT Peter covered court cases. None involving carriers strategy straight to infringement for supplier and warning to carrier. warning system is running. Carriers invited to provide details to MPI. The will be sent same time as hard copy. 13 carriers have registered to date. MIA looking to do the same for farmers. AE s to be advised again of the benefits to carriers to register. Not having loading facility is an infringement offence. Not using a facility to load is a summary offence. The Bobby calf pick up declaration was covered. Peter offered to send the MPI weekly report to the Secretary. The NLT&SG recognised the efforts of MPI and the opportunity to utilise MPI representatives to assist with issues they strike. 11. EMERGENCY KILLING IN TRANSIT A long time since this was discussed. Raised now to formalise that if drivers have issues to consult company management for further direction. 12. NZLTA UPDATE Pat not at meeting Mark N mentioned the NZLTA manual and Crate Code are being amended to incorporate crate tags and other updates. AsureQuality to provide update. 13. WORKPLACE SAFETY ITEMS Gavin covered the stockyard protocol. Inductions going well. Discussion on Horotiu Affco plant. 14. ROUND TABLE UPDATE Robin. HWR group retro fitting hand rails to their equipment. Gelnn. Digital App. Calf tracking system. Potential issues with the App noted.

4 The Silver Fern programme is a good model to copy. Dean. Gore meeting. Went very well. Alliance driver accreditation underway at the moment. Transfer of effluent costs to transporters and how to recover that cost. Nigel. CoF compliance with NZS 5413 or Some testing stations are inconsistent with internal crate retention certification. Welfare issues with livestock on trucks to be dealt with by transport operator rather than sale yard staff. Greater scrutiny on transport operator sale yard entry. Don. Complications with passing aggressive stock on to saleyards. 15.
