10 Transparent and secure supply chains with blockchain Smart Contract Smart Contract Consumer Transport Retailer Terminal Importer Transport Terminal Exporter Manufacturer Delivery (e.g. e-commerce) Procurement Tracking 1. Sales agreement (Smart Contract) for delivery of goods is attached to blockchain (including criteria like quantity, price, date of delivery, passing of risk and liability for charges [incoterms], penalties, certificates) 2. Manufacturer receives smart sensors and RFID tags from retailer to place them on dispatch packages (measurement of humidity in containers) 3. RFID tags are scanned after loading and data is transmitted to blockchain 4. Smart sensors transmit data to RFID tag including time stamp 5. As soon as goods reach destination port the RFID tags are scanned again and data is transmitted to blockchain: If humidity limits have been exceeded during shipment, goods are declared as NOK and retailer can decline acceptance If sensor data is within tolerance range, goods are accepted automatically, retailer s inventory is updated and payment conditions are executed (e.g. automated payment) 10
