Answers ID : ae-5-multiplication [3] (1) Number of rooms in the hotel = 167 Rent of each room for one night = Dhs13121 According to the question, we have been asked to find the daily income of the hotel, assuming all rooms are occupied. Daily income of the hotel = Number of rooms in the hotel Rent of one room = = Dhs Therefore, the daily income of the hotel is Dhs (2) km. According to the question, a train travels 317 km in one hour. Number of days in a week = 7 days Number of hours in one day = 24 hours Total distance traveled by the train in one week = Distance traveled by the train in one hour Number of days in one week Number of hours in one day = = Therefore, the total distance traveled by the train in one week is km.

(3) ID : ae-5-multiplication [4] Let us first find the number of seconds in one hour. We know that the number of seconds in one minute is 60 and the number of minutes in one hour is also 60. The number of seconds in one hour = The number of seconds in one minute The number of minutes in one hour = = 3600 seconds Now, we know that the number of seconds in one hour is 3600 and the number of hours in one day is 24. Hence, the number of seconds in one day = The number of seconds in one hour The number of hours in one day = = seconds Step 6 Hence, there are seconds in a day. (4) 480 km. Distance covered by the Atiya in one day = 16 km Number of days in June = 30 Total distance covered by Atiya = = 480 Therefore, Atiya runs 480 km in the month of June.

(5) Dhs ID : ae-5-multiplication [5] One year has 12 months. This means, 4 years have 4 times 12 months = 4 12 months = 48 months. The amount of money Fadila will earn in 4 years = The amount of money she will earn in 48 months = The amount of money Fadila earns in one month 48 = Dhs = Dhs (6) We need to find the number that is 100 times 300 or in other words, we need to find the number which we will get when 300 is added to itself 100 times. We know that multiplication is repeated addition. This means, to get the answer, we should multiply the numbers 100 and 300 together. We can use the standard method to multiply 100 and 300 and see that our answer is Let us see if we can learn an alternate method to solve the question in a relatively easier manner. Both numbers have two zeros each as their right-most digits. This means, the product of these numbers will have four zeros as the right-most digits. If we do not consider the zeros on the right of the given numbers, the numbers that remain are 1 and 3. The product of 1 and 3 is 3. Step 6 Now, let us write the final product of the given numbers by adding 4 zeros to the right to 3, i.e Step 7 Hence, is 100 times 300.

(7) ID : ae-5-multiplication [6] Number of pears in a crate = 80 Number of crates carried by a truck = 774 Number of trucks = 579 We have been asked to find the number of pears that can be transported by 579 trucks. Number of pears transported = Number of pears in one crate Number of crates carried by one truck Number of trucks = = Therefore, pears can be transported by 579 trucks. (8) Dhs Money contributed by the students in one day = Dhs22 Number of students in the school = 45 Number of days in December = 31 Total money collected by the students = = Therefore, Dhs30690 are collected by the students.

(9) ID : ae-5-multiplication [7] According to the question, we have been asked to find the total number of pens that were distributed in the school. Total number of boxes of pens = 10 Number of pens in each box = 12 Total number of students in school = 2290 Total pens = Number of boxes pens in each box Number of students = = Hence, a total of pens were distributed to all the students in the school. (10) A) sixty-nine million five hundred seventy-nine thousand three hundred fifty-two We may write the given number names in numeral forms as: One hundred two thousand seven hundred seventy-six = Six hundred seventy-seven = 677 Let us multiply by each digit of 677, and add the products as shown in the tabular format below, x Thus, the product of one hundred two thousand seven hundred seventy-six and six hundred seventy-seven is sixty-nine million five hundred seventy-nine thousand three hundred fifty-two.

B) six hundred sixty million two hundred sixty-nine thousand five hundred sixty-eight ID : ae-5-multiplication [8] We may write the given number names in numeral forms as: Nine hundred eighty-two thousand five hundred forty-four = Six hundred seventy-two = 672 Let us multiply by each digit of 672, and add the products as shown in the tabular format below, x Thus, the product of nine hundred eighty-two thousand five hundred forty-four and six hundred seventy-two is six hundred sixty million two hundred sixty-nine thousand five hundred sixty-eight.

(11) ID : ae-5-multiplication [9] Number of fruits in a crate = 30 pears Number of crates filled by a farm worker in one day = 8 Number of workers in the farm = 20 Total number of pears packed into crates in a day by one worker = Number of fruits in a crate Number of crates fill by the worker in one day = 30 8 Total pears packed into crates in a day by 20 workers = Total pears packed into crates in a day by one worker Number of workers = Step 6 Total pears packed into crates in 5 days = Total pears packed into crates in a day by 20 workers x Number of days = = Step 7 Therefore, pears can be packed into crates in 5 days. The number itself We know that every number is divisible by itself. For example 4 is divisible by 4. Hence, the largest factor of 4 is 4. This means the largest factor of any number is the number itself.

(14) d. 5 7 ID : ae-5-multiplication [15] If we multiply the number of pencils in each row with the total number of rows, we can get the total number of pencils. Number of pencils = Number of rows pencils in each row = 5 7 = 35 Here, the expression used to find the total number of pencils is multiplication, that is, 5 7. (15) 145 The largest factor of any number is the number itself. Thus, the largest factor of 145 is 145.
