2 Dispensing Technologies Dispen-SI-matic SI Systems Dispen-SI-matic A-frame is an automatic dispensing system for high-volume split case order picking. This loose piece picking system can be arranged in two different configurations, Pick-to-Belt or Pick-to-Tote, to suit nearly every customer requirement for loose pick order selection. The design allows either configuration to be integrated into a fulfillment system to provide optimum picking and inventory levels for every dispensable product. For both configurations, the A-frame is equipped with individual dispensers for each channel. Products are ejected out of these channels onto a center gathering belt and transferred into totes or cartons at the front end on a Pick-to-Belt or directly into totes or cartons traveling through the center of the A-frame on the Pick-to-Tote. The Dispen-SI-matic Pick Director (DPD) is a standalone, off the shelf, Windows based system. The DPD has a simple interface with a wide range of host systems to receive orders and unload post picked information. It also interfaces with the dispenser s microprocessors to control all picking activities, monitor performance and print useful reports. Technical Specifications: Minimum Product Size: 2 x.6 x.6 Maximum Product Size: 12.4 x 10.5 x 3.8 Pick-to-Belt Rate: Up to 1,200 Orders per Hour Pick-to-Tote Rate: Up to 4,200 Orders per Hour Dispenser Rate: Up to 5 items per Second Product Stack Weight: Up to 35 Pounds Feature Automated order picking Modular design Remote diagnostics and troubleshooting Pick-to-Belt Pick-to-Tote Broad range of product handling SKUs stack veritically Benefit Accuracy of 99.95% and reduced labor Layout flexibility and easily expandable Data available any where, any time Dynamically maximizes throughput High throughput for all orders More SKUs picked automatically Reduced floor space requirements

3 Dispensing Technologies Dispen-SI-matic The Pick-to-Belt ejects products onto a gathering belt conveyor which runs through the center of the A-frame. A discrete section, or order space, of the gathering belt is assigned to each order being picked. As this section of the belt passes a channel from which products are needed to fill the associated order, the Dispen-SI-matic Control System (DPD) starts the electric motor on the dispenser causing the product to quickly eject onto the belt. Rates: Maximum rate of 900 to 1,200 order totes/cartons per hour (order profile dependent). Tote/Carton Sizes: Transfer stations and inclines are tailored to accomodate a wide range of totes and/or carton sizes. Pick-to-Tote is ideal for systems where throughput of more than 1,200 totes per hour is required. A repacking operation is generally needed unless picking into the final shipping totes or cartons. The product is dispensed directly into a tote or carton assigned to the order which travels through the center of the A-frame. The DCS software can automatically adjust the speed of the center gathering belt conveyor to govern the process rate based on order profiles. The rate of a Pick-to-Tote A-frame is determined by belt speed, tote length, order profile and spacing between totes. Rates: Maximum rates of 3,600 to 4,200 totes per hour. Tote Sizes: wide on bottom x 4-6 high x approximately 15 length minimum; 21 wide on bottom x 13 high x approximately length maximum.

4 Dispensing Technologies Dispen-SI-matic Simple, reliable construction. The only moving parts, the dispensers, are quickly changed, using one bolt and plug in connections. Easily adjustable channels. The channel widths easily adjust for different products by loosening two allen head set screws, sliding the channel dividers to the required location, and re-tightening the screws. Ultra high throughput. The Pick-to-Tote Dispen-SI-matic offers some of the highest picking rates of any system available (up to 4,200 per hour). High replenishment rates. The simple, paperless replenishment system makes resupplying the channels fast and easy. Rates of over 3000 pieces per man hour are attainable with no training or special skills. Replenishment can be performed without interruption while the A-frame is picking. Product handling. The Dispen-SI-matic handles a broader range of products than other cartridge type machines. Items up to 5 wide and 7.4 long can be handled with standard dispensers. Dual width or long dispensers are used for items up to 10.5 wide and 12.4 long. Gentle picking. Each dispenser can be set for specific picking speeds, depending on the item. It is possible to pick fragile products gently by slowing down the dispenser just prior to the product contact. Outstanding space utilization. The dense configuration of the Dispen-SI-matic channels, together with the unique compound angle arrangement and channel dividers on each side of every item, provides efficient utilization with no wasted space. High accuracy % accurate. If out of stock, jams, or miscounts do occur, orders are routed off line and a report is printed to direct the correction. Structured, reliable controls. The modular design of the Dispen-SI-matic Control System, together with software proven over scores of installations, provides dependable service with virtually no downtime. Quick change hardware. Dispensers are easily accessible and can be replaced without interrupting picking.
