1 Product Profile Aircraft Arrester Barrier System Saving invaluable lives 20.4T & 40T Barrier Systems

2 Introduction Arrester barrier is a system installed at the end of the runway to stop the forward movement of an aircraft overshooting the runway, in case of a rejected take off or emergency landing, with minimal damage to aircraft or injury to the crew. Availability of the system is, therefore, an essential requirement for flying operations. Indian Air Force (IAF) has arrester barrier at all of their bases for aircrafts up to 20.4 ton mass (MiG, Jaguar, Mirage, Kiran, etc). The induction of SU-30 aircraft in IAF necessitated the need of arrestor barriers for 40 ton class aircraft since the existing barriers cannot be used for more than 20.4 ton class aircraft. John Galt International (JGI), in collaboration with India s Defense Research Development Organization (DRDO) has successfully developed arrestor barriers for both 20.4 ton & 40 ton class aircraft. JGI has successfully installed 50 Arrester Barriers across India. Besides this, JGI has also re-installed 15 older barriers, after critical upgradation of systems. We are based out of Mumbai, India and are a ISO 9001:2015 company. For it s exemplary service to the Indian Defence, JGI was given a national award

3 About Aircraft Arrester Barrier Systems (AABS) AABS is crucial for flight operation for fighter aircraft. They are the final safety mechanism that exists for aircraft and pilots. The standard types of AABS are Actual engagement of AABS, in 2012 Aerial Delivery Research & Development Establishment (ADRDE India) Barrier (JGI is Technology Transfer holder) Stanchions are perpendicular to runway Complete Design, Fabrication, Supply, Installation and Commissioning of 20.4T and 40T Arrester Barriers Supply of Spares, Annual Maintenance Contracts Gulf & Western (G+W) Arrester Barrier Stanchions fold parallel to runway JGI has carried out re-installation work for 6 G+W Barriers Supplying spares such as Tension, Winch and Suspension Cables Supply of Spares, Annual Maintenance Contracts Rotary Hydraulic Arresting Gear (RHAG) Barrier Uses Cable + Supports instead of Multi-element net and stanchions Used for aircraft with tail hooks JGI has re-installed 2 RHAG Barriers Supplying spares such as Tension, Winch and Suspension Cables

4 Working of ADRDE AABS S No Component 1 Multi-Element Net 2 Net Anchor 3 Engagement Support System 4 Stanchion 5 Tape Connector 6 Fair Lead Tube 7 Energy Absorber 8 Tape Retrieval System 9 & 10 Sheave Assembly 11 Pressure Roller Assembly 12 Control Hut The barrier is raised with the help of stanchion system on a command received through remote control located in ATC tower, when emergency arresting of an aircraft is required. As the net envelopes the aircraft, the pull exerted on the net releases the net bottom from the net anchors and breaks the shear pins in the shear-off couplings, releasing the net top from the suspension system. The purchase tapes attached to the net end loops are pulled through the fair-lead tubes paying out the two energy absorber tape drums, thereby turning the rotary hydraulic brakes. This action generates a uniform braking force, which smoothly decelerates the aircraft to a safe stop. The energy absorption (max million Joules) in this system is based on water twister technology. This arrester barrier system can arrest the fighter aircraft of 20 ton to 40 ton at a speed of 160 knots. The aircraft stops after a run out distance of 270 m after engagement in the system. Clearance for service-use of barrier has been accorded by Centre for Military Airworthiness & Certification.
