1 Safe Transportation All Along The Line Equipment for Testing Vehicle Systems... Better Safe than Sorry!

2 Testing Vehicle Systems Quickly and safely on your own depot. With the benefit of hindsight,... Vehicle failure and maybe even accidents following malfunctions can be costly for transport authorities. And all the more annoying if the disruption could have been prevented by early recognition of wear or an impending defect. Until now, testing of important technical parameters was complicated and inconvenient. Vehicles usually had to leave the depot for inspection.... profit from foresight. With HANNING & KAHL's new testing equipment, transport authorities can now test vehicle s on their depots automatically, conveniently and economically. Precautionary vehicle inspection can be integrated into routine sequences, thus decisively enhancing the safety standard. Rapid returns HANNING & KAHL testing equipment for vehicle s is an investment with rapid returns: hidden defects on vehicle s are discovered reliably and can be remedied before they cause restrictions or even expensive vehicle failure. HANNING & KAHL's testing equipment provides more safety and continuity in daily operations. That also means: satisfied customers and sustained success for your transport authority. The functions A number of measuring techniques are available to test technical parameters: wheelshunt communication s vehicle identification automatic train control current collector/ pantograph The technical parameters can be visualised by the route diagnosis FADIS or a depot management. 3 HANNING & KAHL: Worthwhile Innovations HCR-R Communication V1 Registration Wheelshunt detector The wheelshunt detector measures each individual axle, determining whether the wheelshunt is sufficient, thus ensuring that the rail vehicle is properly detected in the line network. Variations which occur in daily driving operations are registered with precision. The data measured during the test run can be evaluated in two ways: 1. A matrix display continuously informs vehi cle drivers of axle status. 2. The results of the measurements are trans mitted to a higher-ranking (e.g. FADIS, depot management ), where they are stored and evaluated. If test results are negative, the corresponding device on the vehicle must be inspected and repaired. The advantages: Immediate representation of results Results can be permanently stored per vehicle Traceable documentation for technical super visory authorities or a rail vehicle logbook. SS Test track circuit with rail switch Driving direction GA1 HCR-R Communication The functional principle is shown in the figure above: 1. The first loop of the communication activates the measurement and ensures clear allocation of the measurement to the vehicle. 2. The length of the test track circuit is to be calculated in such a way that one axle of a bogie has left the track circuit before the next axle crosses the track circuit. 3. With the rail switch, only one axle ever activates the sensor so that the ensuing measurement of each axle can be clearly alloca ted. 4. The second loop of the communication ends the measurement. V2 Deregistration Communication The communication can be tested with the stationary HCS tester. Depending on the communication deployed, vehicle ID numbers, setting commands, line and route numbers can be checked, visualised and processed further. The HCS tester can also be integrated into the wheelshunt detector. HFP track circuit (option) Activation of testing device GK1 KV HFE 55 HFS 42 KV The functional principle is shown in the figure above: 1. The rail vehicle drives with the active transponder directly across the receiver loop or receiver coupling coil and presence is detected either by the transponder tram identification function or by an optional track circuit, activating measurement. 2. The driver activates the function keys/ thumbwheel switches on the control panel one after the other. 3. When the communication functions correctly, the vehicle ID number, setting commands, line and route numbers (depending on type) are indicated to the driver on an LED matrix display, or a malfunction is signalled. Vehicle identification HCS receiver loop for testing the carborne equipment of the communication. Supplementary s are deployed if transmission of vehicle ID is not technically possible. Vehicle ID numbers are registered e.g. via RFID or WPAN and displayed to the driver. This way the communication is also tested. V1 Driving direction

4 Safe Transportat Current-collector tester Testing and visualising with one device both are possible with this HANNING & KAHL innovation. Via touch screen, you monitor the current collectors of your rail vehicles supported by intuitive PC and help functions. More advantages: Convenient programming environment Realisation via panel PC and local periphery Multiple interfaces, e.g. RS 232, Ethernet, USB. Visualisation of current-collector t HCS Communication Registration Testing pantograph pressure with a pressure sensor. H2 Testing lateral deviation with light barriers. Overhead line contact End of test V1 H1 H3 Driving direction The functional principle is shown in the figure above: 1. The horizontal incline of the pantograph is checked by light barriers. 2. Then the pressing force to the overhead line is measured. 3. Sensor occupation and the result of the measurement are visualised on a touch screen. Automatic train control Automatic train control (immobilization) is an indispensable safety feature in rail-based transportation: it hinders inadvertent crossing of signals which indicate»stop«and thus prevents accidents. Electro-magnetic or inductive s are generally deployed for the purpose. In a check, this electronic function is tested by automatic brake application to a rail vehicle on a test track. 5 ion All Along The Line HANNING & KAHL: Expertise all along the line ester FADIS workstation for testing ems FADIS - the route diagnosis The testing equipment can be networked with FADIS - HANNING & KAHL's unique and renowned route diagnosis. The measurements for each vehicle are summarized by FADIS, and the worst result displayed. FADIS can evaluate as follows: 1. Vehicle-related daily overview 2. Axle-related (per vehicle ) daily overview 3. Malfunction-related overview for a selecta ble time period on the respective vehicles and axles 4. Test report But FADIS can do more: when points are equipped with the route diagnosis, you are always informed of point condition /status and possible disruptive factors. You can react in good time and ensure the availability of your line network. FADIS facilitates extensive remote diagnosis and provides unsurpassed transparency in point management which is very useful for planning maintenance work. The data acquired can be stored in a database (network) and made available for other applications. Depot management (BMS) The testing equipment is either installed in the entrance/exit area or on a special test track on the depot. Following our project experience in the last years, visualisation / measurement value diagnosis and storage have been integrated into the BMS depot management. The applications listed here have largely been instigated by customer requests. If you have further requirements, we would be pleased to elaborate a customised concept for your particular depot. Testing and service equipment Apart from stationary testing equipment, HAN- NING & KAHL also has a wide range of mobile testing and service devices. For more information on our testing and service equipment please see our separate brochure. Close to the customer with an ear to the rail HANNING & KAHL s are the outcome of a successful symbiosis of economically-efficient series production and customized design, leading to targeted and reliable integrated solutions from one source, and a rapid return on investment for operators.
